Interested buying the game but read a review from a friend of mine
So I was searching for my friends review on steam and one wrote this: "The game is mostly a story, an interactive movie." and "So there is no real gameplay, it is about a story, and the story itself isn't very good." last but not least"Just go watch a gritty sci-fi movie if you are into this stuff, like Dredd or read a book or play real pen-and-paper RPG."

So I'v read all these "recommendations" I was thinking about gettin CP77 is it worth to get if I almost ONLY care about gameplay like literally nothing else? If gameplay is good its more then perfect for me i don't care about if the story is extremely bad or anything. Thanks in advance for the answers! Side note this review is almsot 2 years old, idk if much changed in the game since 2.0 update

cool, gonna check some 2.1 gameplay out, played witcher 3 I have like 300 hours in it, loved w3 and if I buy the base game now and I buy the dlc later can I continue with my character the dlc or I have to restart?

You'll recognise the TW3 DNA in it with how the open world is done, for better or worse - tastes vary, but with the effort to expand out on gameplay options beyond a lot of fat rolling. It's an interesting take, and if you like the slightly weird story beats then they're present too in the minor missions and story lines.

Can continue on with a save from base game into DLC. DLC is effectively just a new area of the city which unlocks at a point in the main storyline.

Your friend might've not played beyond a few hours. It's a bit story heavy at the beginning before all the activities on the map open up in Act 2, but it's just plain wrong to say this is an "interactive movie". Those words make me think of a game like RDR2, which while I love, doesn't give you any freedom in terms of different viable builds, or how you approach a mission. The majority of the game it's "shoot gun" or whatever the game tells you to do. And that's totally ok, RDR2 doesn't bill itself as an RPG anyway.

Cyberpunk does, however, and has build variety in spades, with a whole bunch of viable and extremely fun ones. And stealth is as functional as going in guns blazing. Meanwhile the story's one of the few things that was praised about the game since day 1. So I'd say the game's totally sound on both the story and gameplay front, and it's up to you whichever you wanna enjoy more.

You have plenty of action, and it is RPG, so yes, also a lot of story. It is a nice mix, and if you like games, films, and/or books, you may discover more within Night City. A lot is hidden, CDPR honour icons, like they do in almost all their games. Plus, you have games withing the game, to play

Ultimate Edition is just them bundling base game with Phantom Liberty to sell it as a physical edition. No difference between any of the versions.* There's no rush to pick up Phantom Liberty - would suggest if you do get it to pick it up before the mission where it unlocks the new area just for flow of the story but that's just me.

edit: *old gen consoles have an older build of the game still because they can't run more recent ones. Also possible to revert back to that older build on PC version (1.63) here on Steam or on GOG.

I would definitely forget when is it if im playing the game so I might just get the ultimate edition now and i don't have to bother myself buying it later on. Once again thank u for all the useful informations!

It is true that you will spend something like maybe 10% of the time watching cutscenes (some reeeeealy long and boring) and chatting with people and then other sizable chunk of time you will waste by just moving around the city. Then you have some really weak quests too... But the story is decent (except the endings) and there is a LOT of action and variety. One complete playthrough took me just over 100 hours. It's far from being an "interactive movie". It's heavy exaggeration. The game will keep you busy.

However, I have little desire to come back and get the DLC and do another playthrough because of the weak endings and story later on. I wanted to check out the new patch but it broke some controls for me so it's unplayable.

It's a lot like Witcher 3, if you enjoyed that then you will enjoy Cyberpunk, though I found the world in this game to be depressing and the repetitive dumb adverts on elevators really started getting on my nerves towards the end.

It's not such a great game as it was hyped to be, but it's good. It has some problems, but in the end it is worth it, if you can grab it on sale. I still think Witcher was a better game though.

Oh yeah, katanas are stupid fun. My first build was Katana/Throwing Knives/Projectile Launch System using Sandevistan (cyberware to slow time). It makes you feel cool as hell and is more straightforward than some other builds, since you don't have to worry about ammo or hacking at all, and you can still play stealthily since throwing knives are silent.

oh what do u mean by unplayable? I really like dark themed video games and depressing world haha 100 hours to get all the achievements ? or just every mission playthrough ? witcher 3 combat was kinda boring for me after the second DLC and I was a really huge W3 nerd back then

wow feel like this game is for me then lol is it complex to make youself a build ? or how deep is this section?

well your friend is correct. if you only play the main story quests. but cyberpunk is pretty much designed so that people engage in the side stuff and even the "generic" sidejobs. its a city meant to be experienced fully, which means just check out whatever the map throws at you at your leasure. you are sure to experience all kinds of interesting stuff in an interesting world.

Get the full game and don't play the main quest line until you've made Watson your female dog.
I'd go as far as doing one little push towards the main quest every time you clean up a district or sub-district.
At least half the fun in this game is exploring the city and collecting bits of lore that help you understand the big picture and the dynamics between the different actors making moves in Night City and the cp2077 world at large.
There is a ton to discover, even better if you like sci-fi so don't be afraid to just roam around on foot, just get the higher jump or double jump so you can explore the city at your leisure.
When in a vehicle you also won't get the triggers for some activities, so be warned.
