Metro Mod a joke?
I love the game and I never tried the unofficial Metro mod from the community but I tried the metro ride in the new game version now and I am very disappointed.
Not only is it an "instanced" experience. You can not walk around and only have 3 options you can press. Looking out of the window, standing by the door and exiting at the next station.
I find this very lame and boring but to each their own.
Is the actual community mod better made?

I anticipated to walk to the platform of a metro station and hop on the "train" live and not with a loading screen.

It was the same with the mod when i tried it (sometimes ago)

agreed... it's disappointed about Metro...

I mean, I guess the whole ideia is to enjoy the ride. I don't care about the loading, but we can't walk between the wagons and can't make some justice with my own hands. It's a bit sad.

Look to bright side, it's free content, accept and enjoy (or not).

Yea I thought you can at least walk around the carriage or something, but no. Just sit, or stand. Appreciate the effort, but brah...let us at least walk around

Yeah, Metro is super meh how they did it
The Metro mod might be better actually

Overall I prefer Official metro because of atmosphere (comunity metro wagon is empty), but from community mod I have to admit i miss walking on station (instanced) and waiting for the train i am looking for, also switching seat in wagon, I miss that.

All in all I had what I was waiting for, an instance dedicated to observation and atmosphere to enjoy the city from a different perspective.

Official :
+ Lively NPC in cart
+ Beautiful cart
+ map system
+ Metro announcement

Community :
+ walk on station (instanced)
+ switching seat (so you can enjoy the view on both side of wagon, but not animated, teleporting)
+ waiting a little bit for the desired cart (yes i like waiting, i find it immersive, especially since you have to check which cart is coming)
+ 3rd person view

This said the modder did an incredible job.

Not only that, but there were 5 different conversations happening at the same time, at max volume as if they were standing right next to me. It wasn't a pleasant experience.

could we maybe remain realistic and not complain over what is already feature creep?
The game as a whole is a great case study as to why feature creep should be avoided (I am not saying it is a bad game, but there are alot of unecessary things which sucked up ressources that should have gone to testing bug fixing and fleshing out existing core features instead..) so them throwing even more in here ..
It's nice that the world gets more and more "lived in" but the foundation needs to be rock solid if you want to do something like that and as much as I like the game, the foundation isn't "rock solid". See 108579342342989 complaint threads ever since the new patch launched for reference.

A taxi service (ala GTA 4) would be much the same though, you do not do anything except look out the window, although there you can use your phone and currently phone is not accessible in the metro. Whilst free roam of the carriage and elevators up to platform would be nice, I think where it's at is still in line with most immersive travel experiences. The same for carts in Skyrim, it's mostly just about looking around (though you can speed up or stop somewhere). Vertibirds in Fallout 4 you can look or shoot. Ok I suppose all the other things offer something slightly more than Night City metro but for a first iteration I think its pretty good.
I'm very disappointed too. You SHOULD have the option to free walk the wagon or sit down and it should be free look at all time. I mean if you stand by the door, the FOV available is so narrow I can barely follow what's outside...

It is so weird how you are able to disagree and agree with my post in a single reply!
As if you dont know what you want.
I was saying the same thing just maybe not put in words cause for me it's common sense when you implement something that is not really fun or well implemented, its better to leave it out.
Who knows, maybe you are the one overreacting, maybe this mod did cost them little to nothing, maybe the original mod designer got payed 1000$ bugs to finetune it for them and they just loaded it into their game eazy peazy.
I was literally trying to say that the mod was not necessary in the patch if its not better than the community mod. Maybe you misread my post but no problem.

I totally agree, I don't want to be jerk after getting this for free, but still, I was hoping for Star Citizen, Watch Dogs metro system where it went full realtime and I could just walk into stations, onto the train, change standing/sitting places on it, get off organically fuid without loading screens, immersively...
And I still miss the interactions between me and npcs, npcs between npcs, which decades ago games could do ie most widely known and done best GTA...
The npcs could've attacked eachother if they crash their cars, the trauma team could've come and take away the hurt, I could've emote&troll npcs and walk all over the metro system... :/ I loved Watch Dog(s) the most tho. XD

wait what? Are you really that kind of person that gets mad when other people have different opinions on a forum?

Not sure where murder everyone came from, I just want an immersive experience

Idk, first iteration makes it sound like there will be more iterations

you can't implement that, because of physics, problem with such movement is the fact that Galilean transformations are not working in video games, so to implement walking in a moving metro cabin you need to actually move entire game world around cabin instead. otherwise player would fly in opposite direction any time cabin changes speed or turning or player jump.
