Female protagonist is pretty bad

I'm female for my first playthrough and idk how different the dialogue is for gender but man, the voice actor for fem V really hams up the snarkyness and bitchiness to a level that's really unlikable imo.

Sad thing is the female characters are a million times more interesting and more charming with better voice acting to me. But V is a walking board whose only vocabulary is f*** this and f*** that and f*** you.

Not all the time obviously but more often than not the dialogue options are just "b*tchy" or "extra b*itchy"

I'd enjoy it if it was a bit more sparse, but it's majority of all dialogue in my experience so far. Guess it might suit some folks

I use an AI voice mod to change her into Scarlett Johansson. There are various choices for those of us that dislike the vanilla voice actor/actress.

Maybe that's why I like her so much - sarcasm's my second mother tongue. *lol* I can't stand male V - he sound so flat and unemotional to me.

Love the female V, find the male V boring. I do almost always pick the female option in games if one exists (Mass Effect).

I wonder if it's different depending on which initial story line you choose as far as "nomad" "street kid" or "corpo". I chose nomad and female as well, but I love the sassafras lol

Whenever I hear the Male V talk I'm getting the TV show The Wire flashbacks, he could easily be Jimmy McNulty. It sucks because his voice really only works for Street Kid... feels way too ground-level urban for Nomad or Corpo. The actor does a good job except it's pretty pigeon-holed.

But I agree with the OP, female V is just straight ♥♥♥♥♥, with a capital B, Lifepath.

Background only affects special response items--and a small side gig. It doesn't change the personality of V. I always took the snark and cussing as part of the setting. Yeah I wouldn't want to hang around fem-V day-to-day now; but to me she's just a character.

It isn't different between playstarts, those are really only there to make you feel special inside when you develop your head canon, other than that the diff starts mean nothing apart from very minor dialog flavor. Wellll, nomad does get a car, other than THAT they mean nothing.

Funny you say that with Femshep profile pic, because that's how I think about femshep voice. Pretentious and trying too hard. But I love V fem voice and delivery.

Female V is exactly like those "empowered" roles in Hollywood where they replace the oldschool Rambo-style badass man with some woman who just repeats the badass comments from those 80 action movie stars but in ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tone.

Its really embarassing how they think it works to present us "strong women" in western media.
