Learning to drive...
I have to say that the driving in this game drives me crazy. When I played the original game I avoided it as much as possible. I finally decided to master it, without a mod.

The first thing I found was turning the sensitivity down to 15 helped a lot, (today I'm going to try turning it to 0, 5 and 10, but the other thing that I found helped me, was setting the slack to zero.

Now when I hit the A and D keys I get an immediate response. For me, that helped.

Then I got into the game and spent an hour just driving around, I'm going to do a couple of hours today before I get back into the story-line.

But I succeeded in driving around for up to 10 minutes at a time without crashing.

Hopefully I can do better today.

prefer to drive motorcycles myself because I find them easier to drive and avoid traffic. i am not good at it just better than driving cars.

I found that driving a motorcycle was easier too. I'm going to concentrate on cars today.
I'm 85 and was a graphic artist, but now my hand coordination is less than 100%.
Sometimes I can barely write my name. LOL

KB here, my trick is, never power the wheels on a turn, on a mid turn just tap the steering keys really quickly, and for sharp turns just tap the breaks for less then a second. Doing all this, more so with the Hoon makes driving a lot more controllable

The more sporty cars can be tough to drive, just touching the accelerator can make me fishtail :). So i seldom go full speed when driving such a car..

OK, I'm back again, the secret is setting the sensitivity to 1.
And not trying to drive way faster than all the other traffic.

I had a few other cars turn right in front of me and a couple of rear-enders where I didn't break in time but I didn't lose it going around corners and changing lanes. Setting the sensitivity to 1 makes the taps on the turn keys make smaller corrections not how long it takes to do it. I found that small lane correction take one or two quick taps of the turn keys.

You don't have to go down the road zinging back and forth, you can align with the lane and there is still no problem turning tight enough to get around any corners. The main problem was holding the key down, keep tapping

The other thing that I found hard to do was not watching your car all the time, you need to watch ahead of you and anticipate what's coming.

I drove the Porsche around the city with only a few accidents all at night.
I'm interested to see if driving during the day is easier.

But anyway, if you are having problems try setting sensitivity to 1 and the slack to zero and then give yourself a half hour to get used to it and see if it doesn't get easier.

I'm going to spend another hour and then start switching from can to car.
It's kind of fun once you start getting used to it.

When driving with keyboard and mouse, pan the camera with the mouse as you turn. Should help somewhat

the little archer sports cars work well for kb+m driving, and most of the Quadra 66 variants. Such as the Javelina and the new free variant the Hoon.

It isn't about skill, it is about a lack of polish on alternatives. I have been seeing more and more people lament changes to the coyote making it harder to drive with KB+M than it used to be, and the fact the Jav had easier "♥♥♥♥ it taking this 90 degree street cornet at speed" handling than the coyote was why I liked it in the first place...

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with your sensitivity settings is still blaming yourself for an underlying issue solved by "Or use the cars that don't have ♥♥♥♥ handling for KB+M" without having to mess with settings and hope for the best.

This may actually be the problem you are having. Before 2.0 it was best to set sensitivity to 0 for kb&m but after 2.0 steering sensitivity seems to control under/oversteer. I set mine to 60 now. Give it a shot.

That's where I started, I always got oversteer. Now I can kind of do a count thing, 1 tap and I get a small deviation, two taps a little more On the road I can get aligned with the lane in one or two taps and then go a fair distance before having to correct again.

I'm going to spend one more session practicing and then get back to the plot.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

i use a controller for driving and it is quite enjoyable. i'd recommend trying this if you have one. M+KB are superior for most things, driving ain't one of them IMO.

Night City must be in the artic because the tires grip like they are riding on ice.
