AMD GPU crashing driver on ALT TAB
My GPU driver crashes while alt tabbing and while running higher than native resolution. Both with RT on and off.

Windowed Fullscreen fixes this because on alt tab it does not go idle with GPU and still renders the game. I think AMD GPUs drop voltage in some incorrect way while alt tabbing from Cyberpunk fullscreen.

This does not happen in any other game.

Weird, never happened to me, and I alt-tab a LOT.

Try exclusive fullscreen with 2560x1440 or 3200x1800.

It seems that it was caused by driving mod. After removing driving mod it doesn't seem to be crashing anymore.

How does driving mod crash GPU driver though, that is beyond me.

Same happens to me as well whenever i ALT TAB, which is why i stopped doing it lol Also, which "driving mod" in particular?

I narrowed it down to it being caused by - CYBER ENGINE TWEAKS. Driving mod required this to work.

Windowed fullscreen works perfectly fine with this mod. Need to use fullscreen to run higher than native resolution though.

I am using VehicleHandling mod instead now. Wouldn't use any mods if driving in this game felt better.

So Cyber Engine Tweaks is the issue then? Well, i can't get rid of that, cuz i use a lot of mods that depend on it. Have over 500 mods installed (none of them mess with the driving/handling). So yeah idk...

I can confirm that windowed fullscreen works without issues tho. Thanks!

Can't you just stay on native resolution? 1440p - Xess on Ultra Quality + Cyberpunk 2077 HD Reworked Project Mod looks good :)

My native res is 1920x1080. To be fair it looks alright but XeSS + 1440p foliage looks a lot better. Also FSR is so bad in this game.

I would just run 1920x1080 if this game had better AA but TAA makes everything look blurry.

I see. For some reason i thought you'd be on native 1440p. 1080p is rough indeed :/ As for FSR. It's really bad in this game, even on 1440p (at least for me) It's only good if you need some more fps. But i don't, which is why i use XeSS for better visuals (capped at 60fps).

Anyway, i hope you can still enjoy the game & thanks for the windowed fullscreen thing :praisesun:

Yea XeSS is so much better than FSR in this game. My 6750XT can actually run RT on 1080p so it's not all bad. Can't say that it looks all that good on 1080p though.

Yea, I am actually enjoying the game runs pretty good on my AMD GPU too. Will have to do some more testing for best settings either 1080p with RT or 1440p no RT ultra.

I bet it doesn't look all that good :/ And yeah, unfortunately you have to make sacrifices. Either 1080p with RT or 1440p without RT. You could also check out Hardware Unboxed on YouTube. They made a good video about Cyberpunk graphic settings.

Medium RT balanced XeSS on 1080p runs around 50 - 60 fps. Also I have a mod that makes RT look a little less good and run a little bit better. I suppose my mid range 6000 GPU is not quite ready for RT, unless they add frame gen.

1440p Ultra runs 75 - 90 fps. A lot better than RT, still looks blurry on 1440p though.

Honestly, i'd just turn off RT. It's just not worth it on most AMD Gpus unfortunately. As for Frame Gen. There should be a preview driver available that adds Frame Gen to the 6000 series cards (i haven't tried it out myself tho) Might be worth a try for you.

Also, before i moved to 1440p Monitor i tried to play games on 1440p with my 1080p Monitor & it didn't really look good. You should consider getting a new Monitor if you can. Unless you like high fps, then you should stay on 1080p ofc. And check out the video & visual mod i mentioned above. The mod uses 1-1,5GB more VRAM, but you have 12GB so it should be fine :)

Yea, RT is not worth it without frame gen at all. I have tried driver level frame gen with some other games before. It's kind of alright, I think for Cyberpunk it would mostly be fine if you don't move mouse too much. Fast mouse movements turn frame gen off while playing. Probably would break game UI though.

Playing higher than native resolution fixes jagged edges it's like form of Anti Aliasing but also higher resolution provides more data for upscaling technologies which can provide better looking image with same performance cost. Higher resolution should even help native TAA look less blurry.

With tweaked settings I can get around 80 - 100 fps on 3200x1800 which looks a lot better and cleaner. LOD feels a bit weird in this game sometimes it's fine and sometimes things just pop in.

Don't have any plans to change the monitor right now, would do so if I upgraded GPU.

I seen HWunboxed video. I can't seem to find your mentioned mod, could you mention it again? Thanks.

Have you guys tried disabling fullscreenoptimization. One of the things it does is it specifically handles Alt Tabbing. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64\ cp2077.exe properties/compatibility/ check disable fullscreen optimization hit apply then ok. Worth a try

Ah good to know. I'm not a PC expert (former console peasant loll), so there's lots of stuff i don't know.

And regarding the Mod. If you're on Nexus Mods, just type Cyberpunk 2077 HD Reworked Project in the search bar. I don't know how to add links in here sorry.
