It doesn't matter what she thinks if she can't get anyone to work with you.
Yeah and they ask you to do one person jobs. In the lore "Edgerunners" tend to work in teams.
Claire tells you and Jackie that The Mercs at the Afterlife "gossip like schoolgirls" and the Relic Heist was all over the news. Everyone knows you worked with Dex and everyone including Dex died.
And I'll say it again for good measure, eddies are eddies and you can always turn down low paying jobs
It's not about EDs, it's just about the in-lore justification. I'm fine with the jobs - it's just that the fixer should've been different for those kind of jobs Rogue gives. And the game has mid-tier fixers so it was totally possible to just have them give MC those jobs.
I hoped that since Rogue is a top fixer and there's a boatload of requirements to even get her jobs in the first place - then those jobs will be something special, interesting, risky and most of all - something with a possibility of failure. But in the end it's just the same something that all other fixers give meaning Rogue isn't at all that "best fixer". At least not when I look at it from both gameplay and lore perspectives.
My view on Rogue is she is there for the main story only. The gigs she gives you after completing a region's gigs are just side hustles so makes some sense there.
But her main gig and acts as a fixer is with one of the endings.
In which Rogue tells V who cares, it doesn't matter. All that matters in the merc world is your rep and V's is screwed up. It would damage Rogue's reputation to start giving V big name gigs while all her other loyal mercs see that.
It's why most of the missions she gives you are personal to her or a "favor" instead of being official.
In the merc world, Reputation can be worth it's weight in gold and you're nothing with a damaged reputation. Hands said it best there.
Plus your vague rep description talks you up as "A big deal with a rep and respect, but not a living legend yet" at 90% for example, but hey not like rep meters were ever sane in any game. But it does reinforce the fact trying to play it off as "Oh, everyone is scared to work with you after the heist" doesn't fit reality, even when someone even tries to blame that excuse in game.
It isn't 2077 alone that does it, but you notice it more when a game rubs your face in how special and competent someone or something is, then they drop the ball and shrug "oops!... But I'm still cooler than you, trust me" Great job tracking down Smasher's empty boat of cars and postgame lootcrates. A for effort rogue even though you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up your job of, step 1: Find smasher. Step 2. Bring a liberty pistol. (seriously?)
See also: Popular local cyber goddess Alt. Their entire existence is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up while everybody is impressed by it.
"Okay so they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up AGAIN even after I handhold them through all the hard parts... But I'M the poorly written character?"
"Well see, they are just so cool and V is a power fantasy so there! Also didn't you see how cool they were against all that nameless trash you could have dealt with anyways?"
At least rogue has the excuse of being an aging burnout spending 90% of their time on a couch, handing out the same jobs as my precious bowl cut boy on a hill.
Okay, I get it. It's just bad narration and inconsistent game world. V could be pulling off stunts nobody else would be able to, even during regular jobs - like stealing stuff / eliminating targets / etc with nobody even noticing it and without a single bullet shot but that V is still counted as incompetent? Okay.. Next time call someone competent who will leave a bloodbath behind, send all the alarms to the corpo base you're hitting and drop all the evidence trailing back to you all around the scene.
