Is the Firing Range mission staged?
The firing range mission in the apartment. Ive tried it 3 times now and EVERY TIME Rudy wins. I dont understand how though, the first time I got 28/100, the second 33/100, and the last was 41/100. I was literally snapping to nearly every target before it had a chance to fully come down. Is the rudy winning ending scripted?

nope...you can win.......you need a fast firing gun. I use lizzie myself.

I always use Dying Night for that quest. Easy win every time.

Comedy/serious option: use an omaha (the tech pistol with the tri burst shots per trigger pull) because i am pretty sure it still counts as a multi hit for the targeting range. I was "only" in the 70s last time I did that mission with one.

That said, the fact the go to advice even now us "Basically cheat" or "Why didn't you use an iconic super gun for essentially a tutorial mission!?" instead of "Aim faster" is telling for how poorly designed what should be a very basic mission is.

If you still can't do it, but have the DLC, you might be able to take the extra lazy pay 2 win route with the black market vendor in dogtown that sells "Missed" iconic weapons. (Why go out and find Dex's body when I can have a DLC vendor apparently do that for me?)

You know that
a) You can shoot any target, and
b) you can keep shooting at any target for at long as it is there?

You should be able to get at least 80 hits, and then you'll win

Dying night is the one with a knife attached to it right? I tried using that one and it wouldnt let me aim.

That is extremely odd. Maybe you need to reload the save?

I dont understand how. I shouldve clipped it for context, but I shot all but like 4 targets that came down and still only got 41/100. Im shooting literally every target in every bay. I genuinely dont understand how Im supposed to hit 80 when I dont see 80 targets throughout the mission

You can shoot each target several times - not just once. Just shoot as much as you can on a target until it "disappears".

You can win it easily just have a somewhat fast gun with a somewhat large mag

The go-to advice is the one Cracktober gave: "use a somewhat fast gun with a somewhat large mag". Add "shoot all the targets, not just the one in your lane", in case people have missed the line telling you that.

I finally won it yesterday , I tried to sabotage it, but the game wouldn't let me use quick hacks at the gun range

I used the Malorian Arms 3516 pistol and won with it yesterday

Wilson's firing range mission is called "Shoot to Thrill." It can bug where V either cannot draw or cannot aim an equipped pistol at all. A fix for these that usually works is to save the game and then reload the save. This bug has been in the game since 1.0 and is still present through 2.1.

Pistols with a high firing rate or multishot with a large magazine like Dying Knight or Lizzy will do. Hit as many targets as many times as you can. Cyberware that increase reload speed or attack speed can help, but aren't necessary. Revolvers are also allowed, but will be too slow.

The reward is decent too, an iconic Lexington X-MOD2 automatic pistol.

The trick is you can actually shoot each targeting board multiple times.
You keep shooting the board until it goes completely up.

Shoot everyones lanes also.
And keep shooting that board non stop until its impossible to hit.

I easily gotten 80 points with a starting pistol.
Make sure you take any pistol with a high rate of fire, dont take a revolver or anything with slow reload.

Because you get points for each shot landed. Not just each target hit. As long as a target is down you can score points on it with every shot you land. 3 Shots on 1 target = 3 points.

always use Dying Night. I always score 70 odd, 50 is the minimum to win iirc.

Shoot all of the targets -> including the opponents targets, and you'll win.
