I thought this was fixed...

There's a max limit to them. 2 orange, 4 purple, 4 blue, 7 green. PL has 1 blue/purple in the parking garage, and 5 green drops from 5 of the cyberjunkies. If one drops and you don't pick it up before it despawns, it's gone forever.

That feeling when the design is as bad if not worse than bugs.

Cyberware capacity shards are rng, your build is now slightly built around luck, rather than wholly built on your decisions, great for an rpg right lol?

The devs wasted their time adding these into the game in 2.0 and now they are wasting more dev time rebalancing them and messing with spawn rates, time they could've spent fixing some bugs.

They could've kept things simple and just made it so we got more cyberware capacity when we level up and fixed some bugs.

I am very lucky that after the decking changes/nerfs my fave deck is the Rippler (penultimate RAM capacity! Non-♥♥♥♥ traits, budget Cyber cost), and that my favorite DLC iconic cyberware are the cheaper ones like the peripheral inverse (Better "within 3m" flat damage reduction)

To be fair I am also saving a lot of points by just being too lazy to bother with the nervous system slots anymore. People who want to use Iconics in the OS slot sure as hell feel the jank more.

Early shards in a fresh save can feel good for the bump while filling up in the first place, but at the end it is too obvious things cost too much to justify "but you can grind for EXTRA!... Oh, no fair being mad about bugs/jank denying you the extra though" issues.

If you play modded, then this is a nice fix:
There's 80 cyberware capacity to find in shards. This mod removes the shard and increases your capacity as you level, topping out at +80 capacity @ lvl 60

This is how it should have been done.

the shards are a random drop with your level affecting the chance....as in the higher your level the lower the chance of a drop.

80 is how much there was before 2.1. The current max from shards is 67/68 depending on whether you're above or below level 25 when you find the cyberware shard chest in the parking garage during Dog Eat Dog. They moved the rest of the capacity you could have gotten from shards into the Chrome Compressor when they buffed it basically.

They are RNG, but they also have pity bonuses. Before level 60, they're 5% drop chance base, +1% for each enemy that doesn't drop one. Once you hit 100% you'll find a shard within 2-3 enemies, as long as you haven't already looted one that level, and are high enough level for a tier to drop. Level 60 severely reduces that drop chance though, with the worst being orange shards being reduced to .6% drop chance, with a .1% pity boost.

It's not as bad as people are making it out to be. Having to make choices between certain options and not being able to just put all of the iconic Cyberware on isn't a bad thing and actually makes you have to think about your build. If you start a new character and just play naturally you will have a CWC of around 255-340 or higher, depending on perks and your Engineer skill. This is plenty of capacity to work with and if you specialize your build is enough to become OP AF. If you can't stand limitations turn on easy mode and mod your game.

Hi, I am also trying to see if anyone has tips? I am stuck at 340 and I am maxed out on level 60. I put 20 on tech and put skill points on all tech. But I googled people say we can have at least 400 some even pass 500, I looked everywhere and redo all the dropboxes and do the 3 skulls sites over and over... Not 1 shard can be found. If anyone can help me.

If your character was started after the 2.1 path, the max legit cyberware capacity without the chrome compressor is 354. The chrome compressor can push you to 424, but at the cost of your operating system. If your character was started in 2.0-2.02 you could have as much as 366 capacity without the compressor.

Any numbers higher than that were obtained with an item duplication exploit, and having more than 450 cyberware capacity breaks the system at the moment.

This is an annoying artificial limitation. I'm stuck at 284/288 at level 60 and can't get any shard drops. I'm going to have to resort to doing some sort of glitch with the body of a cyberpsycho in dogtown to be able to use the iconic cyberware I picked up along the way.

The fact that the shard can get lost completely for not picking it up from random corpse is utterly stupid since there are times where you can miss them during certain missions. They can just put a hardcap on the cyberware capacity while keeping the shard drop so people can just sell them once they reach the hardcap.
TH3R4BB!T Dec 27, 2023 @ 7:01am
The whole shard idea is just terrible, for capacity and skill, just give capacity based on the level and skill based on how you play. Basic concept in any game, the shards make it way to RNG and complex, and also make it that street creed is based on X% clearing the map. Let's hope the next Cyberpunk is more thought through on points awarded, for now, it is probably to late to change it
Lorem Ipsum Dec 27, 2023 @ 7:39am
The easy solution right now is for them to do an update where air drops will have either cyberware capacity or carrying capacity shards. Extra carrying capacity is nice but carrying limits don't limit my play style. Being hard capped at 288 unless I cheese the system with a complicated glitch procedure does limit it (and wastes my time)
