Just gotta remember to requip the item after using them, before you leave the menu.
Unless it's a blood pump, then it's basically unusable if you use food and drink. But it's also really not worth 14 capacity over the other healing items anyway.

Worse, its just plain unusable since there's a new bug that randomly removes it during combat. Died at least twice to that one.
Honestly, it just isn't worth the capacity at all. I gave it a good shot, but you're just better off spending the capacity on something else and using your choice of max doc or bounce back. The advantage of Blood Pump is not having an animation, but you're still locking out of it during block and ads, so it's that much of an advantage either.
Actually its main advantage is that it is classed as Cyberware, so it benefits from Cyberware Cooldown Reduction and Duration increases over above Health Item adjustments. You can pop one early for the adrenaline rush buff and the +100 Mitigation Chance from Body, kill 3 people and it'll be up for use again due to the stacking cooldown reductions from the Body, Tech and Axolotl. For runners its pretty much key for unlimited RAM and for general combat, its pretty much straight up immortality.
and when it does trigger, it totally removes my blood pump cyberware. i assume it'll reset my normal heals too.

It doesn't benefit from cyberware cooldown or duration at all, I spent about 20 hours testing that. It only benefits from health item duration and cooldown.
Damn that sucks. Into the bin it goes then.
