Patch 2.1: Sonic Shock won't prevent tracing - nerf or bug?
So, after the new patch I've noticed that "Sonic Shock + [Combat QuickHack]" combo is not untraceable anymore. The tracing timer starts anyway. Was not the case in earlier version. Never saw this 'fix' mentioned in patch notes. Nerf of netrunning stealth gameplay of just plain bug?

Memory Wipe (rank 4) + others still works, why rank 4? rank 5 takes too much memory.

Yeah I was also looking around for this. kinda gets rid of the use for sonic shock and Memory wipe uses a lot more ram even at rank 4...

This has to be a bug. There is no way this was an intentional change, it completely negates the stealth netrunner builds...

It doesn't completely negate it but it does massively gimp it until you get rank 4 quick hacks and even then it's worse than it was before.

I immediately sent a bug report once the patch dropped and asked whether it is intended or just a bug.

Will inform here when I get a reply. Whatever it is, it bloody sucks.

Using a tier 4 memory wipe (if you have the ability to do so) works as a replacement, albeit at a higher RAM cost.

The level 60 progression perk still doesn't work either.

A little surprising that it's unintentional, because otherwise there becomes very little reason to use Memory Wipe outside of cyberpsychos for the Memory Wipe + Takedown combination.

It is also quite unintuitive thing to do, since it nowhere says that it prevents tracing.

Also yes, it makes Memory Wipe, System Collapse and Suicide useless (combining Sonic Shock with something else would get the same result but 2-3 times cheaper).

But it also kinda essential for stealthy netrunner...

Sonic Shock no longer stops Tracing.
Well... Feck...

Guess no more Stealth Netrunner for me...

Oh, ever since Update 2.0, we are no longer allowed to go Stealth. We're no longer allowed to. Period.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention.

We are aware of this issue and currently gathering data on it.
I apologize for the inconvenience it may have caused.

If this is legit than thank ♥♥♥♥. I was about to boy cot this game after I realised they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ sonic shock. 2.11 here we come lol

For the time being you can actually just use your quick hacks without them being traced. I noticed if I used sonic shock then I would get traced but if I just used overheat then it wouldn’t get traced. So actually it’s even easier to stealth netrun because u don’t need to waste ram on sonic shock

It does say in the text that it scrambles their comms and cloaks them from their allies.

Yes, it does. But that doesn't make the next hack untraceable. Imagine that an enemy netrunner is monitoring the net. He sees a hack in the net and starts tracing you, even if he doesn't know who is affected, because that person can't report about being hacked because of the scrambled comms. This is exactly what Memory Wipe T4 is designed to do, to prevent this from happening. To be honest, I will be somewhat disappointed if this is fixed.
