Steam deck settings are no more enough. There a couple of “high” that must be lowered to “average”. And graphic sucks but at least it’s playable.
It works fine on my Deck. All I change is making sure multithreading is enabled, that the game is Vsync'd to 60, TDP limit off, and the game's framerate limited to 30. Dor docked, resolution has to be 1600x900 at maximum.
I just had this issue today. Game crashes after start screen. Slightly embarrassing since showcasing the gameplay to try to convince a friend to get one. Game ran flawlessly before today. Not sure if that's before or after the update. I did get slightly further into the game after enabling "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" but then it crashed my steam deck a few mins later. Anybody get any ideas? Is this likely to be fixed with an update?
Today I tried experimenting with unlocking the BIOS of my Deck. I increased the memory frequency to 3200 MHz, and raised the TDP a bit. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but this time, after more than 4 hours of playing, it didn't freeze.
I do not recommend repeating it, as you can turn your Deck into a brick and lose the warranty. In addition, it takes me some more time to make sure that the changes I have made have really had a positive effect.
P.S. But if you are so brave, you can try, there is information on how to do it on the Internet. But it is advisable to stock up on the CH341a programmer and have a BIOS backup that was installed in your console.
P.P.S. I'll write here later if I'm sure it really helped me fix the problem. Still need to test it out.
