Street credit and EDs
Got some thoughts:

1. What are EDs for, mostly? What are they to spend on?
2. Is Street Credit important? Does it affect anything?

The reason I'm asking is because I got sort of .. an imbalance of those. EDs pile up way too fast as well as Street Credit. But the former I don't know what to spend on, the latter doesn't seem to do anything?

Before meeting Dex this time I decided to do all Regina's quests + also not use vehicles to go between the quests. And since I go on foot, I can see all the NCPD radiant quests popping up and do all of them. Finally, if I see random goons on the minimap - I go out of my way and deal with them.

As a result (all before going to Dex, i.e. after Regina's quests):
-- 900k+ EDs
-- 41 Street Credit level

All of that on level 17. Also got some 40 headhunter level + some other skills quite high, but those are obvious boosts, so no questions on "what to do with them" (well, it's still surprising it's possible to go that high before doing basically the first non-tutorial main quest).

Another thing I noticed is the quest rewards. I know I just asked "what to do with EDs" so mentioning that fixer's reward is low would be odd - but still. Do a quest? Get maybe 4-5k EDs as a reward. Clear out the quest location, collect all the loot and sell it? Easily 15-20k of EDs. So fixer's reward is practically a joke. Is this also intended?

-You can use them to buy weapons, attachments and mods. These can be a massive money sink especially in early game. Sure, you can just use whatever you found, but if you're looking for a particular weapon with a high tire, that can take you back over 100k easily
-Same for quickhacks
-You can buy cyberware. Here is a certain balance between buying an upgrading implants. Upgrading implants costs less, but you need components.
-You can also buy blueprints. You'll find all blueprints sooner or later, but you can buy them sooner and that'll allow you to craft some pretty neat things early on.
-Here and there you can find rare permanent upgrade items for sale. Capacity shards for example.

And if you've got eddies over...
-You can use them to buy luxury items like cars or appartments.
-You can use them to buy clothes

Streetcred
-Defines what vendors/rippers have for sale
-Defines what cars are for sale
-Gives you a bonus on gig payments

Since streetcred defines what implants are for sale at the rippers (together with main level), there is some effect again on the whole upgrade vs. buy thing. When you cant buy better implants because your streetcred is too low, you can still upgrade existing implants, IF you have the components. What if you dont have the required high tire components? You can craft them from low tire components, IF you have the blueprint.

You can buy cars, apartments, cyberware and guns.
Cars can cost over 100k ED each.

1) Cyberware, and other equipment, maybe cars and apartments. (the cars and apartments don't unlock untill after the heist mission) Cyberware is the most important in 2.0 and later tho

2) Street cred will affect what the merchants will sell to you when combined with level.

As a side note you kinda did a lot of sidequest grinding before a very early point on the main questline. Also fixer gigs tend to award more street cred than levels, the main story quests tend to award more levels than street cred.

Just wait till your selling T5 daemons lol one is worth 20-25k. Street Cred unlocks things and makes stuff cheaper to purchase. Eds just use to buy cyberware, hacks if needed, vehicles, homes, mods etc... Most of my eds go into buying top tier cyberware mostly so I don't waste components upgrading low tier ones. Lvl 40 t5 ware will be in the rippers and you'll likely spend most if not all of that there. There's also iconic cyberware out there you can go discover on certain rips. You can look em up online but I won't say where exactly here.

E$ are for spending on things you can't find or craft. I find it's pretty easy to accumulate cash and _buy_ cyberware rather than grinding for crafting materials to upgrade it. Also, you may find it easier to buy a specific weapon that never seems to drop.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

eddies are mostly used for cars or cyberware. some ppl also go to different clothing stores to find pieces they want for their outfits. in the early game it can be viable to search weapons stores for weapon types you need, bc it can take quite sometime before you loot your preferred weapon. many consuable stores also sell items that will permanently boost your stats.
DaylightDemon Nov 27, 2023 @ 3:59am
street credit level is rather important as it unlocks cyberware and cars. it levels much faster than your level though and you will cap out at 50 rather fast. so you dont really need to worry about it too much. it exists so ppl cant just insta use the best cyberware
