Is Pistol and Sniper build viable in 2.0
For role playing purposes, I want to play a female spy like character who specialized in pistol / sniper and is proficient in stealth and hacking (with regard to later two, I just want to be able to do both decently well when situation requires but not primary focus of character. Is this build viable in terms of spreading out the attributes and perks or would I be dividing things up so much that I wouldnt be able to survive on harder difficulty levels (no meaningful synergies). I have played shooters but am not great at them and want to play on Hard difficulty level.

Not looking for a complete build recommendations but just want to know whether this kind of build would work and if there are some perks/cyberware that I should definately look out for

Thanks for any suggestions

Yes it's viable and no that shouldn't spread your build out too much in vanilla with vanilla difficulties. You'll still likely want to grab some body/reflex/tech stuff though for survivability. I can't stand not having air dash myself. Grab Neu-Respec and No More Tiers to control your build freedom. There absolutely will be cyberware, weapons and perks to look out for but it will be more fun for you to try/discover them then be told.

Perfectly viable. Focus cool and intelligence. Until about half way through the game you'll need to stick to pistols for stealth (snipers can't take suppressors, so you have to find the one unique sniper rifle that does for stealthy sniping).

Should things go wrong, the same skills will make you effective with revolvers and precision rifles for head on combat.
might be worth picking up Tech Ability in case you'd rather use Tech weapons instead of smart weapons. you can kinda double dip with some weapons like a smart pistol or smart sniper and get bonuses from cool and intelligence, same with Tech Ability.

p.s. you can get 3 skills to 20 and another to 18

It should work fine once you get to a somewhat advanced level. Starting out, guns will be pretty weak [although your starter Unity pistol has been made much more powerful] and quickhacks are relatively ineffective. Once you get your cyberdeck and quickhacks up to Tier 3, and you pay attention to their strengths and limitations, you will be on your way. Just be aware that netrunning is no longer an OP experience.

"Just be aware that netrunning is no longer an OP experience." tell that to my cyber witch while I steamroll with a -70% dmg scale... it's still incredibly strong.

who cares if it's viable. just play how you want to play.

Yeah Netrunning is OP AF. I can't even imagine how ridiculously off-the-chart broken it must have been before.

Okay...I'll buy that. I tend to play as a generalist, more or less, and it seems to me that hacking/netrunning isn't as powerful, or as reliable as it used to be. However I guess if you work at it, it can be...and that's perfectly fine.
