Are Gigs, NCPD, Cyberpsychos, Races, and Arena filler content or worthwhile?
So I beat the main quest and most side quests aside from the races and arena/fights. Just looking for a recommendation on if these are "worthwhile" in terms of storyline, character development, or something of the like.

Maybe its subjective, but any feedback is appreciated. Not really interested in grinding or anything like that. Maybe this stuff would've been better for the early game to level me up or get cool items?

Also, are there any potential characters or questlines that I could have missed or most likely not? I think I may have locked myself out of further questline progress on the Voodoos and Peralez but not sure.

Depends on your perception of what you think filler content is, honestly. Some people say it's very worthwhile to do the extra content, and some people think it's just a waste of time.

Maybe try a couple of them and see if they are up to speed or if they are just fluff. I myself enjoy all the content released so far, but I also like exploring without doing any quests, just to see if I can break into different areas that are locked off after the main quest is done.

Gigs are worth it for their own stories.

NCPD hustles are primarily for XP but the bigger ones also drop legendary weapon bluprints.

Cybercychos are their own stories and good for XP.

The races are their own story about Claire. You will also get one and potentially 2 cars from it.

Beat on the brat has a unique car, an iconic sniper and and iconic grenade.

If your very into this game you will end up laying all 3 life styles all the entire story arc, all the Gigs and NCPD scanners and then wishing there was more content.

I liked doing the gigs and NCPD scanners more than the mainline missions itself

i think all of the side content is worthwhile in cyberpunk. ive seen loads of streamers play this game. and all of em suck at the game and never manage to put together a coherent build. they all mostly did main quests and side quests, but rarely ever gigs and ncpd hussles. but they are important. they give you money and loot for once. and money in night city is incredibly important. but even more important are upgrade materials. which come free with loot.

but yeah the gigs are some of my fav. content, because it is the only type of mission that has a story but also plays in sandboxy locations where you can really choose how to approach em. the gigs in the expansion are of even higher quality than the main game story wise. it really pains me how many ppl dont even look into gigs, because the stories and the gameplay in them is among the best things in this game.

by story do you mean the shards that you have to read? I think I did a few gigs but it seemed like they were more similar to "open world events" where you walk over, kill some guys, and that's it?

NCPD scanners, that was filler for me, it did not add to the story to hit and run for mostly junk. Only a few gave good items

Races and Fights, a filler, but it was a nice break, and should have had no limit. Like in some other games, you could do Fights with different strength of enemies, and amounts of groups. Just to test your build, or training yourself for the ultimate final fight
- Fists
- Katana / Knife / Blades
- Guns
- Everything

Cyberpsycho, could have more potential, but felt now more as a filler to tell the dangers of to much Cyberware or something like that

Gigs, still do not get how it adds to the story, maybe it was more 'background' telling about the character giving the gigs. But why need to learn their life story if V never really does sometimes with them

Side jobs, some did feel like a filler, because there is no follow-up later in story. Others did add to the story, but more to the background of Johnny

Well, are question marks in Witcher filler or worthwhile?

If we're talking in terms of plot, they are filler for sure, but a lot of the time they immerse you into the world a bit more and build some groundwork for things that happen in the main story.
It's the same way in Cyberpunk. I think if you're in it just to see what happens, there's no real reason to do them all.

There are also some unmarked encounters, some with inter related back stories to them, which provide some very good backstory to the game world. These range from just finding bodies through to random type encounters in really unlikely places.

Ive had a couple of my best fights from random unmarked encounters out among the garbage dumps...and I mean like five minutes of clambering over garbage bags type areas. Want dark flavour? Try legging it through those garbage piles chased by a bunch of psycho scavs.

+1

There is genuinely nothing artificial about any of the content in CP77.
Ofcourse not every activity will have a long story like the main story.. but that is why you call it a main story lol. Often even smaller quests have different outcomes/results. But not everything in a rpg game needs to have some crazy impact or payoff later, life isn't like that either..

I like the Cyberpsycho hunt chain. I was disappointing that the reward for completing all 17 is now relatively garbage. Used to be a unique piece of cyberwear. Now, just a couple of pieces of level-matching clothing and some junk.

NCPD scanner missions are good for XP early in the game, and for farming shards until about level 50, and for leveled, random loot and a few eddies. Had one iconic Tier 5 netrunner deck and an iconic Apogee Sandevistan drop from them after reaching level 50. I have about half of them done.

In Phantom Liberty, its been gigs since they are new content, and hunting for air drops, farming for cyberwear capacity shards. My V is still way below where he should be on that stat and still have 2 slots empty because of it.

The storyline is the filler bit for me.

I love the freeroaming aspect. The NCPD parts actually have small backstory parts to them if you bother to read, giving so much more backstory and life to the city that's just outside your own control.

First of all, I dont 'grind'. I never do that.
I've got a real life job, thats enough. Before I 'grind' in a game I'd rather stop playing it or simply cheat.

That being said, I do all the side content.
-Cyberpsychos are fun, I always do them on very hard. (I normaly play on just hard, cause otherwise the common goons are a bit to spongy for my taste). After beating them I often just reload and try a different approach, different weapons, different tactic.
-The races? Mehh. Its not a racing game, just like TW3 isnt a game about horse racing. I mean, I still do it, its just 4 of them and you get a nice car. But its probably the weakest part of the game.
-Gigs are great, the best part of the game. They each come with their own story, their own environment. There are plenty of different pathes to achive the goal (and often there are different ways to success. Just because the journal says 'do x' it doesnt mean thats the only way. Doing y might be much better).
-Scanner missions are fun too. The organized crimes ones are the best (and the biggest) but even the ordinary assaults are nice. A good exercise, and a good opportunity to test different weapons/perks etc. And if you take your time to actually read the shards (or simply listen to the guys before decaptiating them) you'll find that many of these missions are connected to themslef and to the gigs. There are whole plotlines below the surface.

(and yes, you can indeed miss/break some questlines. By making 'wrong' decissions, or simply by waiting too long. Eg. when Panam call you re:Saul and tells you to come asap. If you wait too long Saul dies and Panam will never talk to you again. That will even lock you out fro one ending)

Well i am now playing the finish all Gigs NCPD cyber psycho's on the map game. I now have an empty map. I have a good bit of the Main Jobs left to do. Before completing the heist, and bringing an end to the lock down, Watson was clean. I find riding form gig to ncpd over and over great fun. The sets that you visit and confrontations are not generic or cut and paste. You win achievements, From the area Gig givers for completing all there gig's You become very powerful. This is where the level scaling is so important. If you like the combat and driving the map. 70 + hrs of gaming fun. Well if you are an easily amused Monkey. And now i got the rest of the game. I love the grind. Edit. i am retired and they just don't make as many great games as the used to. So i beat the stuffing out of the ones i play.

gigs start with a call on what you have to do. if you dont take the call you will get the info via message. then you do the task. sometimes the fixer gives you a bonus if you do the job particularely well (for example stealthily if the fixer wants you to). on site you can then choose how to approach the job. some gigs you can skip confrontation entirely by just smartly entering and exiting. some gigs are more fun if you do em guns blazing. the gigs are great because they flesh out the job of a "solo" in the cyberpunk world. they are the eqivalent of the monster hunt missions from witcher. those missions are the bread and butter of what crews, solos or gangs are payed to do by a fixer. they are a great oportunity to get to know the kinds of crime one might get involved with in night city. without the gigs, cyberpunk would just be a linear story movie with waaaay too much talking imo.

but yeah i get it, many ppl are not into the immersion by gameplay aspect. many ppl just want to go from questmarker to questmarker, from cutscene to cutscene and want to experience story in a very obvious manner.
