Any time you upgrade a cyberware piece, the offered stat modifiers will change. If you're lucky enough you'll get one that has Headshot DMG and I believe CRIT DMG is only above EPIC rarity.
Also stat modifiers are shared between all pieces of the same tier when it comes to selecting them, so you can actually put Headshot DMG on all cyberware eventually by rerolling stuff.
That's how I got 60% Quickhack DMG total across all my cyberware just by rerolling stuff and putting Quickhack DMG on all pieces.
Or do I waste eddies and T5 comps to get the stats I want?
The way I manipulated my stat modifier rolls was to never sell any low tier cyberware. That way I could get through bad roles by upgrading low tier ones until I got good rolls for my actual cyberware.
If you're at T5 though, then the only way is to keep wasting T5 resources and rebuying the cyberware piece I suppose. Which is precisely why I did it my way early on, so I don't have to waste resources. The whole system is honestly terrible and counter-intuitive.
Good thing airdrops n carboosting exists
So I can't definitively answer that unfortunately. I stopped worrying about min-maxing stat values because of this, so as long as it has the stat I want for my playstyle I just slap it onto cyberware and forget about it ^^
First pick is always the same with the base stats, RNG is on the 2nd and 3rd upgrade. I guess if you are "mid maxing" you can quick save for your desired stat results... Also pay attention to the stat modifier that offer you just additive stats compared to percentage stat buffs.
Personally noticed there are some stat modifiers from the upgrade that I didn't see a lot in game and it was reloading speed. Went melee build but already felt too powerful so paired those stats with the T5 vest in wardrobe that offered +8% reload speed cause reloading is a pain sometimes for iconics.
Nope, it does not boost the current T5+ stat modifier you are going to upgrade for T5++. Also you can always preview what stats are getting a boost or not by pressing E, not holding E.
Now that I know its all rng, I'll stop caring and edit my save file.
