Cyberware capacity shards?
I have well over of 80 hours post 2.0 and I have not seen one single cyberware capacity shard. I've heard that they're bugged out, is that still the case? Is there any way to get them even if it is?

think there are older threads with this topic but I have been playing post 2.0 and have found a few so they are out there.

I started a new game, and found 3 just on gangers I took out by looking for scanner hustles.

On my current run, about 85-90% through the entire base game content, not yet started the PL DLC, I found 3 capacity shards. That is more than 0, so I shouldnt complain, but cmon, so much of the fun toys are locked behind cyberware and having increased cyberware capacity be tied to complete RNG just sucks.

I have found a few on random thugs during NCPD scanners and gigs. I find them to be slightly more common in the drop boxes that emit red smoke in Dogtown in my game.

Baseline cyberware capacity is Level*3+21. The Engineering skill gives up to +15 capacity, the two perks can give up to +70. So at level 60, if you have more than 286 capacity, you've found shards.

Shards are RNG, and there's a maximum amount of each tier you're allowed to loot, the max bonus value totals to +80.

Cyberarms are bugged as so: after installing any of the Gorilla Arms, Mantis Blade, Projectile Launch System, or Monowire, they cease to count against your cyberware capacity limit when they're put away (or after use with the PLS) without swapping to another weapon first. They're only restored to normal values after save/load, or when you unequip them at a ripper, or attempt to upgrade them. If you use this freed up 8 capacity to install additional cyberware, intentionally or not, when the capacity value of the arms is restored, the game will always show your max capacity as at least equal to currently used capacity. This results in an apparent fluctuation of capacity, of up to +/-8 points.

I made a b-line for tech and edgerunner, that could very well be my problem. Guess wanting an early jump on armor and bolt for my Satara build kind of screwed me over slightly.

I've found quite a few. No mods or glitches. I found more at a lower level. I'm level 55 and haven't seen one in a long time. You can sometimes buy them from netrunner shops and a few other random places. Also buy perk points shards. They are not cheap though.

Wait, what?

Found a few at low levels. But it has been a long time since I last saw one.

lol yeah you can buy them. I found these two Russian dudes and they sold me loads of great shards nearly all tier 5 and a perk shard. It cost a lot though, but I'm loaded with eddies. I think braindance shops can sell them as well? I know netrunner shops do. I can't remember where I saw those Russian guys? Think it was Dogtown. Also some random peeps in the street can sell them. They won't be marked on the map as a vendor, but they will be shouting loudly that they have stuff to sell. Sometimes it's junk. Sometimes it's tier 5 cyber shards.

Do a clean install and they will start dropping but they do not drop often. I think CDPR does not want us to be cybered out like in patch 1.6 and below. The game is just too easy then. They want us to struggle a little bit. Also gamers went on and on about Elden Ring and how it was refreshing to have a challenge in a game and now all the new games are harder because of that.

The Russian guys sell level up shards in the stadium area in Dog Town. But its a one time level up shard. Once you buy it is no longer for sale. Finally, if you steal cars and stuff and do the car missions and pass them you always get skill shards and if you do the track car missions Net-runner shards drop a lot for those. You know the one where you find a car with and antenna on the roof and you need to follow the car and over take it.

Cool that's good to know. I couldn't remember where those Russians were so couldn't find them again lol. Oh also the black market in Dogtown also sells any iconic weapons you may have missed out on. Again, they're not cheap. I think 100,000 a pop.

In my current game, they dropped regularly in Watson until the Heist was completed, many not counting across saves. Then twice in Dogtown just after the Chimera fight and one more from the Dogtown vendors. No more since then. At 238 capacity now at level 60 with statistically no prospect to increase it further. Some of the best cyberware is woefully out of reach.

That is a bit low. I'm level 55 and with 290 cyberware and 41 ram nuggets lol. You should get more. I wouldn't give up hope yet. Go and have a look around the vendors

Indeed 238 is low; RAM is at 45. Could get it to 49 RAM removing cyberware from other slots and changing to a more cyber-costly deck, sacrificing some armor and other stats.

I understand players had been able to get cyberware capacity around 300. I have a long way to go.
