When do you get to return skippy to regina?
Title. In none of my playthroughs i got to return it. Few days back i started a new playthrough and im going through side stuff instead of going for the main story for now. Im nearly max street cred, pretty high lvl, finished a lot of gigs and side quests but so far i never got to return skippy. I went to see her in person and i still couldnt return it. No dialogue, no nothing.

What am i supposed to do? Finish all her gigs/psychos? Or progress in main story enough?

After you have Skippy swap modes it takes a few days in game before it requests to be returned, think it's close to a week, can't remember exactly but it's just a matter of time.

Yeah, you need to kill 50 NPCs before his story moves on. Then he speks to you, then you wait couple more days before he can be returned.

You need 50 kills with the mode you initially picked then it swaps and locks into the other one, then you wait until it requests to be returned to its owner.

Having Skippy down around 50 to 60 people then it will force you to change mode, and after that, a quest with Regina will appear.
If you start as stone cold killer, it will definitely goes to Puppy-Loving Pacifist afterward.
If you start as Puppy-Loving Pacifist, choose 'killing is wrong' will allow you to keep the mode. (not going to stone cold killer)

Oof. Hopefully ill manage to kill someone with that garbage.

You can run into someone's face and just unload into them for quick kills

He was fun to use when I first picked him up. I chose to have Puppy-Loving Pacifist so when he changed he would become stone cold killer. Most enemy you shoot with him in pacifist mode don't die so you need to shoot them in the head after they have gone down to get the 50 kills. Once the number of kills is reached I got the option to change him to stone cold killer. After that he became so annoying that he was no longer fun to use and in subsequent playthroughs I never bothered picking him up.

Yeah i did notice it does more damage the closer you are to someone, otherwise it took me to mags to kill a single fking militech from distance. Its gonna be a pain to waste time with this weapon. I wish you could return it as soon as you get it.

I dont like the smart guns that aim for you.. on my first walkthrough i did gorilla arms run and in the second one (both pre 2.0) with mantis blades. Now even while having a lot of armor and a lot of health, enemies still do a lot of damage so i dont see why would i go for normal melee weapon run so instead im playing with ARs, shotguns and SRs.

I tried out the smart guns on my first playthrough. I thought it was cool seeing the shots looping and also being able to pin point where it aimed but then got tired of them. There have been quite a lot of changes since I last played but I liked using power or tech weapons. They were much more fun to use.

Smart weapons seem to work better (for me) in 2.0...maybe because I spec a lot into Intelligence, but Smart pistols are pretty weak generally. Skippy's charm wore off for me too. I had hoped he'd be given new lines/jokes in 2.0, but oh well.
Porkhammer Nov 6, 2023 @ 8:38am
Smart weapons are good, just Skippy isn't. Ashura is also pretty useless since 2.0.

My favorites are the Yinglong and Hercules 3AX. Everything turns into mush with those. <3

I changed mode, did all the stuff you said guys and nothing is happening. Do i have to have him equiped in main 3 weapons or he can just sit in eq? I don't mind using him.
