Swapping clothes/armor no longer changes looks?

So I know all about the wardrobe changes - on paper. My question is why is it when I equip a piece of clothing from the inventory, why it doesn't show up on my character? It only works if I change it in an actual wardrobe stash at the apartment.

It's a brand new install, new game, no mods. I just don't know why it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, it's like they left in half the code for the old armor system and just piled the new code on top of it.

It's working just as it's supposed to. The whole point is that the outfit's visuals override any equipped items. You can also remove the outfit any time and switch back to the actual equipped items (middle mouse button on the "outfit" slot).

I'm aware of that now, but I've also noticed you can't create wardrobe outfits from items you currently have on your person. I'm assuming I need to go back to an apartment for that. Considering they simply magically unlock clothes for us once we acquire them even if we sell them, that's still a little jank. lol

Yeah, gotta use the wardrobe in any apartment, or at clothing shops (last option in the shop menu). While we're at it just in case you haven't noticed yet, you also don't even need to wear anything to use outfits and everything you pick up gets added to the wardrobe instantly. Basically you could sell or dismantle everything right away and only keep pieces that got stats on them.

It was not a feature in the original game and was added in an update. I had the same problem as you when I first used it.
