Chimera Core
If i use the core to craft a mod... will i get the core back if i disassemble the mod?

No so choose wisely. I didn't know how it worked and created the mod for power weapons. I only use smart weapons though, so opportunity lost for me. You can only use it once.

that's what i was afraid of.... the only weapon mod that can be unequipped has to be made from the chimera core...

too good to be true....

i might just leave it on my table for display then

the only smart weapon i use now is the Pizdat and it doesn't have mod slots

its the only mod that can be un-equipped in normal items. all mods can be removed form iconics.

I'm pretty sure that you get the mod back if you sell or break down any weapon that it's attached to but once the mod is made you can't get the core back to make a different mod.

chimera core Severance makes for a nasty instant kill katana.
i have 100% crit anyway, 60 base and +40 during sandi, so all the +crit chance on the other katanas is pointless :D

Severance
and the tech 200% charge mod are by far the best

allegedely you can place the core down in your apt. if you use it. might be a bug tho who knows

i had it down next to the scorpion statue. it sits there with the 'you can scan this icon' you can re-loot it to craft a mod when you are ready and then it vanishes.

Eh, I think this is causing my game to crash.

If I place the Chimera core on my side table, pick it up again and then place it down and pick it up again my fps goes to single digits and becomes a slideshow until the game ultimately crashes and corrupts my save file.

Thankfully I have a habit of creating two save files when I save so the one that was corrupted was only a few seconds from the other save.

Anyone else have this issue with the Chimera Core?

Wondering if I should just leave it in my backpack in the off chance it's screwing with my game.

Only XMod2 iconics have mod slots, and you can't remove normal mods from them. Muzzles and sights are attachments, not mods.

i am aware. just saying every iconic that does have slots mod or attachment you can put whatever you want in them (via the mod slot type) and remove them at will unlike normal non iconic items

I literally tested that with the Xmod2 Cut-o-matic before posting, and couldn't remove cyclone.

Edit: You can replace mods in the Xmods, destroying the one already in the game, but you can't remove them.

i can slot them and remove them no problems no need to replace destroy them.
if you cant remove cyclone from it then that seems like a double bug. as the chimera core items can be removed form anything at any time iconic or not.(even says so in the description on the item)
and everything can be removed from iconics at any time.

one of us is bugged :P tho its been the same in both my PL playthroughs so /shrug
and considering i haven't crashed once in over 200 hours not had any quests not work or doors not opening ect i would assume my games workign as intended lol

This is unironically the single most impactful choice you can make in the game, aside from unlocking the secret ending perhaps.
