I cannot unlock "The APB is Not Enough" Achievement

Has anyone had difficulty earning this achievement?

Guides say it requires the player to reach 5 star wanted level in Night City. I've done this three times, once running to escape MaxTac, the other two times dying to them. None of those times have given me the achievement. I tried it in front of the arena, in front of Heavy Hearts, and on the Dogtown side of the gate. None of these have worked.

Up until now I have not had any problems unlocking achievements. For more info I have already completed the DLC main story and all gigs. Is this a known bug? For reference I'm playing on a GOG copy and have posted on their forums as well.

Gotta be inside Dogtown. I got mine in the intersection up top as you drive into it.

make sure to have access (be able to have it pop up) to the steam overlay, had similar issue when I couldnt access it in-game, after I could i immediately got the achievement when i got the fifth star

All three attempts I've been inside Dogtown. I know because the people who respond are different than the normal NCPD.

Yes that's what the guides say you have to do. I have done this but still nothing occurs. At first I thought it was based on location within Dogtown, but none of the three spots I tried triggered he achievement.

i don't think it's location specific in dogtown, just as long as it's in dogtown. i just kept killing until i flatlined and when i went to load my last save it popped

I tried again today in a different Dogtown spot than all the other times and it still didn't work. It seems some people are having problems with achievements in general so im just hoping it gets fixed soon

I got it right inside the Dogtown gate. It takes a WHILE to get, I think it took close to 5 minutes for me to get up to the 5 stars. I just made a save and went to town on the guys standing around inside the gate, then just darted inside the doors (you can't get back out of the gate once you start cause it gets locked but you can shoot the guys through the grated roof inside the rooms next to the gate, and literally just keep shooting. But yeah, if you get the 5 stars and it still doesn't pop, it may just be annoyingly bugged. Maybe right after try quitting to the main menu and reload your game, I found that a lot of times that would fix whatever weirdness was going on.

"it may just be annoyingly bugged" - I'm thinking that's the case here. The gate was actually one of the places I tried - at first I could only get 3 stars there, so I went inside the gate and got four stars, then went back out into the street a bit to fight more until MaxTac showed up. Still didn't get it.

Did you ever manage to figure this one out? I've been having the same issue with some achievements in Phantom Liberty even now in June of 2024. I have gotten to 5 stars inside DT fighting against the Barghest instead of NCPD and have killed waves of Maxtac and still no achievement. I additionally reached the end of the PL campaign where you need to make a major decision, yet still haven't gotten the achievement for saving the NUSA President.

I did end up getting it. IIRC correctly i just waited after a patch and it worked then. Pretty sure I got it at the front gate.

As for the other achievements I'm not sure as this is the only one ive had issue with. It is worth noting I play through GOG technically
