reed in a government dog yes man that gets the job given done no matter what.
songbird tragic compulsive manipulator with trust issues. her own goal is the priority.
my head cannon. v's character would imo send her to the moon!
She gave us the chance to consider the value of our own survival. And its cost.
She is a killer, a liar, a despicable person… but so is our V. And both are desperate, by design or accident.
What price is too much for survival?
Sending Songbird to the Moon, for me, is the only ending where V can still face the looking glass and say to themselves: surviving is not enough. I want to be worthy of living. I want to do, for once, something that is beyond myself.
Because no one can save me, and my most trusted friends and allies are too weak to make a difference without dying themselves… so, I will help someone who is just like me. I must.
Because I understand all too well their desperation. And in their shoes, I would have done what they did (if not I did it already).
And fck N-USA and Arasaka both, if they stand in my way.
Helping someone who is just like V, give the grim reaper the middle finger… what better victory is there?
Also, Alex gets to live. Giving the coin to Alex felt so right in a movie ending sort of way.
Reed in the other ending is miserable. I think dying so Songbird can live is, deep down, what he would have wanted but it goes against his principles. Heck, he was unusually slow in shooting V in the end. It's almost like he hesitated.
Lastly, though this is really just my wishful thinking, if you go for The Sun ending, V goes on an outer space heist on the Crystal Palace. With So Mi on the moon and likely okay (she sent a souvenir after all), who's to say V won't be working with her on this heist? She's still one of the best netrunners alive, even without using the Blackwall.
In my head canon, So Mi will help V on the Crystal Palace mission as V tries to find a way to prolong her own life by working with Mr. Blue. Oh and in return, you'll need to help So Mi escape from the people experimenting on her on the moon.
Good headcanon, similar to mine: with V cured, they'll need the help of one of the best netrunner alive to face what is to come. And what is to come, will probably come from the other side of the Blackwall.
Which poses an… interesting interrogative: what IF, Blue Eye and other AIs are preparing, from the Moon, a “third” challenger, ready to take action to prevent Netwatch humanity OR Evil! Ais to win over the other? So Mi doesn’t need to be a captive in this scenario. She could help willingly.
Maybe in Cyberpunk 2079, we’ll be a member of a party of legends (V, So Mi, chromed out borgs like Shaitan), tasked with the challenging objective of keeping the frail Status Quo, reducing the power of both governments, megacorps and Blackwall Ais alike.
I let her have her "dream" but on the next play, I'm going to have a guide and F over any NPC to get the best money and drops.
She'll never see me coming.
dont fear the reaper, johnny and V showing gonks like david how true legends are born
I agree.
sending her to the moon is my canon ending as well, primarly because she can contact V during the Crystal Palace gig and finally help him for real this time to find a cure. And is also the perfect intro mission for Cyberpunk 2 if you think about it =D )
