Arm and Leg Cyberware... bad
Is there any arm and/or Leg Cyberware that doesn't require my limbs in a landfill?

My acting training compels me to inhabit the world... and there is a very serious part of me that wretches, cringes, and flees from the idea of getting a limb removed on purpose.

I suppose that's a "me problem", or something working correctly in my psyche...

I will tell you that doing all the boxing challenges with real human arms was an epic battle.

Monowire doesn't really remove your arms at all. More like you have a spool of wire attached to your arms that winds itself back up.

Besides, even without an arm upgrade you still have parts of your arms missing so you can link up to systems or to other people whenever you "jack in".

Technically none of the cyberware available for V involves amputating limbs. The depiction in the game gives the impression that the limb is amputated and replaced but in fact are grafts between the bones and muscles covered with synthetic skin where it should have been removed.

If you look at the arms you can notice that there are parts that even retain the scars so in effect they are the original limbs but cyber modified

Also the synth skin allows to have the sense of touch, in theory, according to previous lore, even the fingers of the gorilla's arms should have the sense of touch.

Obviously this is impossible in real life, not even advancing 100 years in the future since it completely ignores the logic of how a living being works, so there is no need to think about it too much.

Gorilla arms replace at least your entire lower arm and hands. Not only is that the description given in the official artbook, you can also see as much when you try to force open a door with gorilla arms.

The same goes for the Mantis Blades

and the Projectile Launch System

People in the Cyberpunk universe simply have a completely different outlook on these things. Cybermodification is an everyday occurence, and the human body or even the human individual have little value in this world compared to ours.

I'd say since it's affecting your "acting training" to stop looking at it like it's like the traditional pen and paper RPG. Don't look at V as your character, look at it as CDPR's character. Think of it like you're playing a street level Adam Jensen from Deus Ex, where the character has no such scruples.

I think you've chosen the wrong universe to inhabit.

Deus Ex exists in a setting where you can choose between getting chipped or not.

There was a choice? Thought the chips were semi-mandatory.

Observer is another great game that dwells into this kind of thing. The struggle with the morality and ethics of implantation, and ultimately it's consequences.

Hence why I specifically stated Adam Jensen from the later games. We as players don't get the choice in whether or not Adam Jensen has implants, just like we don't get the choice for V because no matter what you have to have the Kiroshi's(and I believe an OS).
