Is this game worth playing on Very Hard?
Title.

I generally play games on their hardest difficulties as I find the challenge thrilling.

But so far, on my second play-through as a melee build with some sneaking but NO netrunning, I'm finding the game difficult to the point of frustration.

My pride has prohibited me from turning the difficulty down, but right now it's more frustrating than fun; is there really any benefit to playing on this difficulty? I really feel like a netrunner build would be way easier.

I've never understood this personally ... if you aren't having fun why wouldn't you adjust the difficulty?

I suggest trying it on hard if your having trouble especially early on very hard is quite brutal

Its a bit like saying you enjoy hitting your hand with a hammer but dont like the pain. Its nonsensical.

There's no benefit to the harder difficulties, but the game is at it's hardest point at the very start and levels out as you go. Also, it may be a struggle to kind of abandon pre 2.0 thinking on power gain, because it's been changed a lot and you kind of have to relearn the rig. Also, I think puttering around the town before doing the heist helps a lot, the scripted/story missions at the start are really hard if you have no perks/cyberware/etc.

It's fun. You definitely need to rely on your OS regardless of which you pick. Personally I like the high damage and feeling like I'm backed into a corner if surrounded, pulling out all the stops given like bullet deflect, kerenzikov/sandy, finishers, and of course dash. Can still be very easy even on very hard with apogee or even falcon sandy.

I had to switch to very hard soon after the release - the enemies were / are too easy otherwise. Sticked with it ever since - 2.0 gave me a few "very hard" moments though (as everything was changed, got owned pretty hard in the first few fights -.-)

Once you reach lvl 30 - 40 there are enough countermeasures against instant death and you slowly feel the power creeping in. Without very hard you own every fight starting with lvl 1 - not much progression that way, you won't "feel" your character growing.

Played through the entire game on very hard. Base game was mostly a stealth/pistol build about a year ago. Was honestly not too bad outside of bosses. Phantom Liberty was really tough at first using that build, especially since one of the first missions forces you into a big firefight. It took a bit but once I got some decent cyberware and perks, it was fun but still a good challenge. I'd recommend it if you're used to playing on hardest difficulties.

I'm playing it on very hard. Having a good Cyberware build is an absolute must though.

Very Hard is not super difficult at all maybe some higher difficulties on the first levels. However if you’re looking for a more balanced experience imo go very hard.

You can easily beat the game on hardest difficulty with all melee in fact its probably the easiest. I actually stopped playing on my first play through after 2.0 with a pure gorilla arms build because of how easy it became in fact you can be pretty much immortal. Tech is obviously very important to boost yourself up but get a heart pump and adrenaline from body, and your pretty much immortal already. Now go grab berserk with full immunity and you are immortal. Between the low cool downs you can get with a fully maxed out heart pump and adrenaline you can eat shot guns blasts from those pesky elites to the face all day. If something has knockdown pop adrenaline before going into rage and well do whatever you want even run across electrified floors that normally one shot you. Damage wise well it's some of the best if not the best in the game especially considering the aoe crowd control.

The difficulty is effectively meaningless. All it does it change how spongy they enemies are. They don't have any extra abilities or weapons. They don't behave any different. You are just suffering through frustration for literally nothing. It's a single players game. Why do people do this to themselves?

What exactly difficult you encounter with melee build? It should be durable and fairly easy even in very hard.

very hard is easier to handle as a edge runner build net runner too if you focus on stealth most of the time. Melee however good luck so many enemies that can one shot you itll make you want to rip your hair out still tho if you ever do finish it you gotta show us your badge good luck

No because they ruined the game with enemy scaling bs. It's not even challenging, just tedious.
