Pistol Build for 2.0 PL
I played with a Pistol build till the end of ACT 1 before 2.0 and then dropped the game. I am back now but after they massacred my boy aka Dying Night and turned it into a toy-gun / taser and after finding out that pistols were squeezed in the ‘Cool’ Attribute and have only a couple of Perks of which most - if not all - are simple damage, Crit chance, Crit damage increases, I am wondering if a pistol build is even worth it now.

I was thinking of possibly going into the Netrunner route (full Intelligence) and spend points in ‘Cool’ for the pistols (with or without stealth). Does an ‘Intelligence’ build synergize with a Pistol ‘Cool’ build? I will probably fight mainly with Quickhacks and fill the cooldown times with Pistols. Are Smart Pistols worth it and do they benefit from the Pistol Perks from the ‘Cool’ Attribute?

Do Pistols synergize with anything else? Because a pure Pistol build seems lacking and boring now.

Weapons do stack perks from Class and Type. So like if you grab the SMG perks and the Smart weapon Perks they stack effects on Smart SMGs

I can not say if Pistols are worth it. I have a smart pistol and it is good in a pinch but I speced into SMG and Smart so that is mostly what I use and it is house wrecking more so with the perk that makes smart weapons lock on multiple targets and the perk that marks them lock on instantly when your in over clock mode.

You mean the Netrunner with x2 SMGs without reloading build, right? I think I'll skip it because it seemed too OP and I am not a fan of SMGs.

Good to know that Class and Type Perks stack. So maybe I will try the Intelligence/Cool build with Pistols.

They seemed to have went all in with the revolvers if you want to do a gunslinger build. Lets be real, those needed help, Lizzie and Death and Taxes were miles ahead of all the other pistols before 2.0.

im doing a netrunneresque ninja katana build with pistols and smgs when I feel like going all out (this might not work well for me later though) and I've been using Lizzie the whole time (my favourite pistol in every other patch and at launch) and it works well with the dash and slow down abilities that go with dash and ADSing pistols

No just a single SMG I'm not doing the Meme build. I get one pistol one SMG and one sniper rifle on my load out. I mostly use quick hacks from cover. the SMG is for when the ♥♥♥♥ its the fan.

Perks are just part of the puzzle, cyberware was given more roles in builds as well. Combine the right cyberware and perks and Dying Light can be packing the heat.

For just guns In a limited sense yeah. But your talking about the little +2% here and there form T3 and up cyberware. which does add up when you get all decked out in chrome. But I would say perks are more of the real game charger to weapon play styles then cyberware is.

For a pistol only build I would say go all on the Max Payne experience. Kerenzikov is all on to go with Focus and Deadeye, and they added a couple of more implants that are explicitly to only work with the Kerenzikov. Then from other perk columns apart from the pistol ones is clear the one you have to take, the one about dashes the mid one in dexterity. Additional to that, idk, I guess depends what else you want to try, if you don`t wanna drop the pistol in anymoment go netrunning I guess xD

To equip Kerenzikov you need 18 in Reflexes, no? Which is entirely wasted on a Pistol build since Pistol skills/perks are squeezed into the Cool category now. I don't want to invest 18 points in Reflexes for a Cyberware.

Tbh I feel like Reflexes and Tech are both must haves for any build. Reflexes because of dashing and mitigation (I feel like nobody in their right mind wants to be glued to the ground sitting behind cover looking at enemies to death) Tech because of max Cyberware capacity. That leaves one more category to max out and really shape your build.

Really the question is: What else are you going to pair your pistols with if flying around with full control of air movement and slow motion doesnt peak your interest.

As a pistol-netrunner, do you need points in Tech? Is the Cyberdeck affected by the Tech tree? I might be wrong but a full Tech tree seems to be suitable for melee builds like Mantis Blades.

Nope, there`s no attribute requirements in cyberware in 2.0. You can use whatever you want, still in late game probably you will want to watch out about the scaling modifier that they have each by attribute.

I'm running with mostly pistols and sandevistan. There's the top perk where hip firing costs no stamina so deadeye has 100% uptime (headshots have 100% critical I think and no bullet spread). Using Jackie's iconic pistol for awhile then switched to Alex's iconic silenced pistol
