plus its hard to be a stealther using LMG as your main weapon
There is Iconic Automatic Mortat Gun but it is Assault Rifle
There is Iconic Big Heavy Lasercannon that you mount on your shoulder but is is Sniper Rifle
There are iconic looking heavies in CP2077 dressed in trench coats and armed with HMGs (veteran gamers might recall the original Syndicate) - but these are NPCs only. V can only carry HMG for a short while, its damage is underwhelming anyway and while LMGs can be carried and stored like any weapon, there are few, no iconics and even more underwhelming than HMGs.
CDPR clearly want players to use shotguns on their heavy builds instead of MGs. As mentioned above I am not sure if there is any CP lore reason for that but I guess devs either are no fans of handheld miniguns from the Predator and Terminator movies or they believe such protagonist builds could not be balanced in the game.
I dare to disagree - the tremendous firepower of a minigun style HMG is balanced by the slow movement and poor maneuvrability of anyone using them, plus it takes a while to reach the high rate of fire, it eats through ammo fast and reloading takes time. So the HMG/LMG build would be unique, fun and not more OP than other builds - but CDPR for some reason avoid it. Pity....
Anything new regarding HMGs in 2.0 or PL?
