Netrunner in 2.0 kinda sucks though, all the hacks cost more and you can't spam them out like you used to. Not to mention the new trace mechanic where everyone homes in on your location instead of just the person being hacked killing stealth hacking.
Sande can clear a room with no trouble while a Netrunner keeps waiting for their ram to recharge every 2 hacks. And boy are boss fights a bad time with a Netrunner, you need to keep running in circles to avoid being with while letting off the occasional hack whenever your ram allows it. Compared to a sande where you can just go ham on them.
Now it's just plain pointless because you have to hide during the cool down.
idk..... ive had more fun in 2.0 with quickhacking than I did in 1.0..... the combinations you can pull off seem more impressive from personal experience.... like in pacifica near beach using contagion and overheat can clear 4 groups of 3 and the group near the car in one go.... or how you can use things like provoke a enemy netrunner to start tracing your location with say a silent pistol nearby and then use counter a hack to spread quickhacks to everyone on the network (something like blackwall for instance)....
quickhacks may cost more RAM but thats because you have more RAM than normal when you can turn your health into RAM itself.... which synergizes with health regen and RAM regen combined.... adding on top of that in tech tree getting borrowed time along with biomonitor... your can regen health, RAM, and health items so fast... once you get rolling with it you regen more RAM than you are using...
of course like ive said before Ive never played with Sande.... but im really loving 2.0 netrunner changes.... even the tracing thing makes more sense now to me... makes dealing with the network as an extra obstacle... I mean... all enemies are connected to the network.... if you take one out while still connected its the network that kicks in to solve the issue kinda like an antivirus program and your the virus on the system....
edit: its also very fun 🤡
There are a LOT of perks which make your attacks stronger the closer you are to enemies for both quickhacks and most weapons. Also there are more mitigation and armor perks that are affected by close proximity than long distance. Most ranged weapons have severe damage drops if further than a few meters from your target. Smart weapons struggle in targeting anything pretty much not 10-15 meters in front of you. Several ranged weapons receive bonuses if you do a melee attack with them.
Heck, if you start a new game and choose the "skip to Phantom Liberty" option, they chose your stat allocation as 4 Body, 4 Cool, 9 Int, 9 Tech, 9 Reflexes. It really feels like they didn't want PL to be an RPG and dragged their feet on everything regarding the RPG aspects of Cyberpunk.
with quickhacks though you dont even need to leave your vehicle.... just keep chillin to the radio station while you take everyone out...
So ultimately it's just down to what a person has fun playing. I'm currently trying out a gorilla arms/electricity/lightning build and maximizing all the ways I can inflict electricity damage, and basically try and play as Thor, to see how fun it is. Might be fun, might not, we'll see. If I don't enjoy it, I'll dust off a netrunner build and try a different variant this time.
you haven't used it since update? because it functions differently, on demand on and off now
