are smart weapons good in 2.0?
thinking about switching my pistol skills into smart weapons but I enjoy having max cool, is it worth dumping like 15-20 points into intelligence for smart weapons or not really?

at frist no not all that much better then anything else.

But as you get higher teirs and spec into the perks for them in the INT tree they get good.

I'm running a netrunner with 20 int and clearing rooms with hacks and a smart SMG is crazy fast.

BUT if your not going to be a netrunner I would probly not do much with smart weapons they are kind of crappy without the perks and end up taking a long time to lock on and will miss a lot.

Smart Weapons were always decent, but they are mostly geared to be used in tandem with Hacking to get RAM Back and Insta-Lock on when Overclock is Active.

Depends on what you mean by "good". The "good guns" in 2.0 is the shotgun everything else kinda falls off compared to melee and netrunning. On hard difficulty or higher you will most likely be underwhelmed by comparison to power revolvers and other pistols to be honest. They can do the job, but the kill speed is noticeably slower.

Well, the smart shotgun is still very good. So if you like that it can be worth it now that I think about it, still not as good as power/tech revolvers tho.
yeah ive just been running power shotguns and its crazy how good they are but all my previous pistol builds arent really enjoyable anymore so I was looking for a swap

You don't buy smart guns now to kill off anyone from the start. You buy Smart Guns now to kill off the sliver of health left by your hacks on a mob and/or build RAM.

I usually play a NetRunner and smart weapons are tied to the intelligence tree now.

I’m enjoying them as a good backup for when my Netrunning gets traced.

Not too far off. Smart guns are really for the Netrunners now as a backup beating stick.

Ya, I'm hoping 2.1 fixes the very obvious weapon imbalances. Gorilla arms shouldn't be more efficient then an LMG. They went overboard with melee forgot there are those of us who like guns sans the shotgun.

That said the tech weapons are currently the best alternatives if you can get the timing down for them. And since most people have points in the tech tree now, might be worth playing around with.
Yeah its a shame that lmgs are bundled in with shotguns as there are like 2-3 lmg models and none of them are really good, while I enjoy the ammo refund mechanic it just does not really help them do better, I still use lmg shotgun because its cool but it kinda sucks smartweapons are now glorified hacker tools, never really used them before

I will say Smart Sniper with a few perks and across the street on the roof top is kind of crazy watching the round arc around cover and pop the guy in the head.

Since we are dragging tech weapons in here, I will say that it's very likely you'll be boosting your tech level up to about 15 or so just to get more cyberware. So it wouldn't be a huge stretch to drop perk points into tech weapons either.
