I don't think there is brightness, but gamma is definitely there.
now it seem gray instead black
Check HDR settings.
You can also tweak it directly from your graphic driver and monitor but default is usually very fine (lower backlight for eyes)
With age and glaucoma, you will discover the joy of the ignorance of youth and genetics. Two years ago, I played at normal gamma without issue. Now, I cannot see anything without at least .95 gamma. Time truly is the thief of all good things life.
