What counts as a takedown?
Been trying to do a knives & deck playthrough, so I use the Arasaka cyberdeck. One of it's features is +5 after performing a takedown. But if a takedown is restricted to just getting behind them and pressing F, then that kinda defeats the purpose since accomplishing that isn't exactly dependent on your RAM in any significant way. But if a takedown were more broadly defined, well, then that's another story.

So, what counts as a takedown? Just putting hands on them, or would it count if I shocked em down, or poisoned them down? Is it any non-lethal incapacitation? Or just, naw, hands only?

pressing F from behind like you say. it is probably designed to synergize with the perk that resets you getting traced on a take down

That perk, plus perhaps if you're using quickhacks like Sonic Shock to deafen them or Bait to lure them in order to set up the takedown.

Bummer. The amount of time it takes to set up a takedown with hacks, move on to the next target, etc, pretty much garantees that any expended ram will have regenerated. So recuperating on a manual takedown is a pretty useless feature, I think. And that kind of gameplay is exactly what I've been doing. Was hoping that it would be useful as I scaled up my netrunner potential. Bummer.
