Its about 8-10 hours but it has like 4 different unique endings to promotes replaying it a different way.
What I'm looking at seems like 30 hours I hope GameSpot didn't just lie to me LOL
I was refering to the main quest. Its Gamespot so they may need 30 hours but playthroughs on Youtube are getting through it in around 10 hours even with the ridiculous amount of cutscenes and dialogue.
Just like anything it will vary from player to player. Play style, what difficulty you play on, your build, whether you take your time to explore/do side objectives or not, are you experienced/naturally talented at this kind of game or terrible at it. There's so many factors that go into it, that trying to accurately say how long a game will take you seems almost pointless.
I have nearly five hours into Resident Evil 2. I make tons of mistakes, I am a wimp when it comes to scary stuff, I am not very good at the combat and controls as they feel unlike anything else I have ever played. I died to the first Birkin encounter several times before beating it.
Meanwhile, my friend loves Resident Evil games, he is great at them. And I watched him beat the game in less time than it took me to reach the halfway point.
