Cyberpunk 2077 Awful Performance...
So not sure why it is only this game that runs so badly on my system, but I should have more then enough to run this without stuttering, hiccups, freezing, but now even after the new 2.0 update and the new DLSS 3.5, the game can BARELY make it above 60fps in 1440p! like seriously?!

I have a Ryzen 5 3600 OC'd @ 4.4ghz and a RTX 4070Ti, way more then enough to handle this game!!! So then, why is it running so bad? Even with FrameGen, the game stutterings every other second! Even if it says 60fps solid up in the top corner, the game is STILL STUTTERING!

Nobody should have to buy the top CPUs and GPUS just to play this at a consistent 60fps at 1440 or higher, and this is exactly why me and so many other gamer hate this new software based tricks NVIDIA and DEVs are now %100 reliant on, to sell us overpriced garbage that cant even handle modern games without trickery while charging is up to $10000 to over $2000 for a high end GPU.

Idk, maybe my CPU is just too weak, but if that was the case, why can I run everything else fine with it but this one game? Am I the only one? I even have fast NVMe's in my system with 32GB of DDR4 RAMM. This just blows me away with all these things to help it run better, the game can't run stable at all, even at 1080p! I will get MASSIVE frame drops in the city, and randomly;y through action in the game.

Bottlenecks are real, upgrade that Jurassic era potato.

I never understand why people like you feel the need to dunk on other peoples PC's? Shame on you. I get stutters on ultra even when the fps is stable. Trying dropping the settings to high and see if that helps.

Yeah something is wrong with your system, I got a 4070 and running 1440p overdrive/frame gen/DLSS quality I'm getting 60-90 depending on where I am but it's really smooth, the performance is really stable. Something is wrong with your side.

Ryzen 5 3600 and your question is why ? upgrade gpu to a 4070Ti with this cpu is stupidd

well he is right though, CPU is bottleneck, if you can buy rtx 40s sure you can get at least a gen 11 cpu....

there is a report about GPU nowadays, in order to make them work, you need a better CPU, all the tester in youtube all got gen 11 or 12 CPU, some suspect that this new GPU really requires a high end CPU to make it past 80 to 99% usage rate....

You guys are wrong here, he should be fine with cyberpunk and a 3600, you can look at benchmarks for cpus and cyberpunk the difference between 8700k and 13700k is negligible. CB is GPU heavy, I got a 9700k and don't have any issues and my performance is a few frames less than what a 13700k would get. Maybe at 1080p it would be worth mentioning but even then it's not a big enough issue.

Yea he may be right but that is no excuse to be a jerk about it.

I personally upgraded my CPU first and then my GPU a year later. It's better to have a GPU that can't keep up with your CPU than the other way around. Fast GPU with slow CPU can end up as a stutter fest unfortunately.

I agree, if everyone could buy 4090 there would be no need for more graphics on the market, the same applies to cpus.
Anyway..

Try turning off DLSS and playing with the settings. Figure out something you like, then configure DLSS.

DLSS will manage your rendered resolution and will determine your FPS. It's not even a bottleneck.

I have around 100fps driving around in night city with DLSS on ultra performance. Just Reflections and Ambiant Occlusion pretty much. Some shadows too maybe.
Ryzen 9 3XXX
RTX 3070
16gb RAM?

This aint no black magic. Your CPU(Ive got the same btw) is bottlenecking your GPU.
They arent in the same league, simple as that.
You dont even have to spend tons of money to get one that goes better with your GPU.

The issue is that you have a low grade and now also semi old CPU.
You severely bottleneck that 4070ti.

Atleast you play 1440p? if not, then you bottleneck even more. It is time for an upgrade of your other hardware.... people often do this mistake (buy a high mid tier new age card and pair it with low grade old hardware)

Something you could do, is lower everything that is CPU intenssive. Crowd ie.

I can get 90-100 FPS on my system based around a 4070 on 1440p and even more on the better system. The old system struggles more, but it can pull off decently.

The 4070 system have everything maxed out btw and DLSS on quality.

Again your CPU is a soon low end CPU from 2019...... note.. LOW END

I had a 3700X with a 3070ti and couldn't maintain 60FPS on high settings. I upgraded the CPU to a 5800X3D and now get 60FPS all the time on ultra settings (both with no RT or upscaling @ 1440p).
So I am pretty sure a 3600 is holding back a 4070ti in cyberpunk.

I would recommend not using RayTracing if you are sensitive to FPS (I keep mine off, love that high double/triple digit FPS). Screen space reflections are also a big perf hit, turning them down to medium or high will help, at least in my experience.

3600 is the problem

I have an i9-9990k with a 2070S and I'm getting very high FPS in 3440X1440 so yeah, has to be something with OP's CPU and settings

Unless he's trying to play everything on Ultra with high Ray Tracing?

And as with every game if you're having stuttering issues or low FPS, start lowering all shadow settings first, then mess around with the rest =)
Neatrior Sep 25, 2023 @ 10:59am
It is your CPU. Digital Foundry found CPU bottlenecks with the 3600. This update changed something and it seems like it is more CPU demanding now. If you can I would suggest to turn off Ray tracing or just use some ray tracing options.

Believe it or not RayTracing does put more stress on the CPU as it has to calculate more stuff. That is the first thing you should change.

I have no idea about the stuttering though. It can be so many things. Have the game running on a SSD, NVME being preferable. Keep the game on it's own drive not the OS drive. Make sure Steam or game location is not installed in a program x86 folder as that sometimes can cause issues.

I dunno. You seem to be savvy with PC's so you might already know this. Suttering is really annoying though so I understand the frustration. I would rather play a game at 30fps with even frame pacing than a 60fps stuttery mess.
