Cyberpunk 2077

Statistiche:
The Traffic AI should not be this horrible 3 years later
I haven't played since 1.5 And I am shocked and flabbergasted that the traffic AI is still horrible. NPC drivers are getting in accidents, stopping randomly, speeding... I mean I'm driving and if I'm not careful, I'm crashed into or have to avoid a bunch of cars just blocking the road.

I mean, driving is part of this game... how are people okay with this?

Also, the game features a taxi service and there's several quests with the company, but, YOU CAN'T USE THE TAXI SERVICE?

I was there thinking I'd use a taxi so I could just admire the visuals, but no! It's just upsetting. This game is still a mess.

nearing 2000 and oh yes, yes it is. It's better, sure. But "better" is relative. Better is not "good".

one of my favourite pathing tests is starting an NCPD badge response on a narrow side street, especially a dead-end, then get behind a planter slightly off the street or an elevated building entrance with a solid wall or steps or something and stand still and wait... here comes johnnylaw in his armored cruiser, racing in, can't get close enough, slams the planter or wall, but not close enough yet to disembark, so throws it into reverse, slam, into another building, back into drive, slam... slam slam slam.. fire starts... slam slam slam... slamslamslamslam...

KA-BOOM! Soiasil Machiquistador! Explosion of Stupidity! (that you get blamed for, 3 badge now)

but hey!, it's better than GTA... they drive off cliffs on that game :steammocking:

Bro, make it 4 years at this point. Driving in this is like a comedy movie Naked Gun.

The dude in front of you waits at green light and does not move, the dude behind your car hammers his front into your rear few times, and then drives into the wall.
He bangs the wall with his car until it blows up in flames, then other cars do the same.
A while later the entire street is full of cars, one of top of another, like a pile of dead bodies.
Everything is on fire, and all of that just because one car was blocking the green light.

There is no such thing as traffic AI in this game, there is A, but there is no I.
All scripts break lose all the time, including collision physics.
It's a massive mums spaghetti code. :Molotov::FLAMENSTEIN::FLAMENSTEIN::FLAMENSTEIN:

This happens all the time, and its ridiculous. I mean how are we "supposed" to drive in this game? I'm super cautious in real life when I drive, but when I play this game my best bet is to hop on a motorcycle and drive illegally zooming past other cars by driving on the line. All because I can't count on the AI to drive properly.

Also I don't understand why the AI has to rear end the back of my vehicle after waiting too long, they should be able to go around the player without causing damage to four vehicles. 1. Theirs, 2. Mine, 3. the Car in front of me, and 4. the Incoming traffic in the other lane. I could excuse the AI doing this if it didn't cause so much havoc all around but the AI just isn't designed in a satisfactory way. These AI inflicted accidents happen too often, if they were less frequent I'd find them funny.

TBH, I think the traffic in the game has improved quite a bit. In the current game, NPC cars will actually adjust to avoid you [sometimes] and go around your car when it's parked on a driving lane. I'd agree it's not great...but it does seem better.
Several people have developed rather intricate traffic systems in UE that will run their processes at great distances with low impact, but the systems I've seen expect drivers to do everything right (even if it makes traffic back up).

Cyberpunk also needs people doing things wrong when driving. This will be an interesting thing to see in the next CP, but superficially right now, it looks like a complex and sensible traffic system processing at long range may be possible with low impact.

The most believable city in all videogames!

Well yeah, the city itself is amazing. The devs did an amazing job on creating this world.
As per usual, i do think people are exaggerating a bit for effect here. 19 out of 20 times i drive from point A to point B, it works out just fine.

But yes, there is that 20'th time..

Popular mishaps include, but are not limited to:

A car stalls out at an intersection infront of you, and the car behind you decides to go full RAMMING SPEED because he was made to wait a whole 3 seconds too long.

You drive past a car, and he suddenly decides that this would be an amazing time to do a lane change. Bonus points if he actually punts you into oncomming traffic in the process.

A driver manages to damage his own car, often by clipping a guard rail, and goes into a full on panick. Bonus points if he manages to smash into several other cars and puts them into panick mode aswell, for that added metal carnage and pedestrians flying everywhere.

But more often than not, it's those incredibly sudden lane changes that will get you.
What annoys me is that the AI tries to get on my nerves, for example, I was driving at high speed and saw a car at a big intersection, I thought this NPC would just drive on, but no! This bastard started to slow down and just stopped in the middle of the intersection. For no reason whatsoever. And as usual, pedestrians love to jump in front of you.
It's not safe as pedestrian either, AI act weirdly aggressive against temporary street block, car rams car. I start to think Mafia 1 DE has simple but better traffic AI than this

"drivers are getting in accidents, stopping randomly, speeding"

Isn't that realistic though ?
I was just being driven by river and he just switched into the left lane and drove directly into oncoming traffic then while he was talking drove about 800km from the destination we were already at when he drove into oncoming traffic and when we finished talking he ejected me on the freeway. This man is the least corrupt cop on the force and this is how he drives? No wonder night city is such a hell hole
lol is that a bad thing? thats like bethesda quality level, the kind of bugs and broken things that make the game even funnier.

Yes, it is bad. Trivialising bugs will only encourage developers to overlook more bugs. Not everyone wants Bethesda Experience. Good example of it is reception of Starfield.

Do you own either cyberpunk or starfield? Do you even own any Bethesda games?

Neither cyberpunk or starfield I would call full of bugs. THe driving ai is not as bad as the op dramatically states. he over states very mild cases of ai bugs that I'd hesitate to even call bugs (speeding and car crashes). He ignores more serious driving issues I would definitely call bugs, and I'll let him state them assuming he's even seen them happen.

people can be real quick to slam games, especially games they haven't even played and experience vicariously through word of mouth...

And you jump to conclusions by assuming people don't own games in places other than Steam. Of course I played Cyberpunk, of course I played Starfield. Of course I played other Bethesda games. They are all full of stupidities. You are yet another person who will trivialise issues and paint them as features. Toxic positivity will only give you bad games.
I didn't jump to a conclusion. I asked you if you owned them lol... you say a lot but you can't be spoken to. You explain nothing and aggressively throw around buzz words.

But cyberpunk isn't a bad game in fact its a great game. Plenty of "buggy" games have still been great: morrowind (bethesda) and vampire masquerade bloodlines.
