Crafting/Upgrading below legendary worth it in 2.0?
I love the new scaling system, completely makes sense and feels great, my problem is I don't wanna upgrade anything and am saving eddies for Lvl 40 when I can buy legendary stuff. Is there any point to upgrading and crafting? I'm not getting lots of components anyways and why upgrade now when I can upgrade a legendary later right? It takes like 75 crafting components to upgrade a purple gun anyways so like...? Am I missing something here?

No. They are stuck at whatever rarity that you grab them at, in which you will then need to upgrade them to increase their rarity. No choice.

Upgrading as a level 1 character or a level 50 character will be the same result.

If you need to craft a weapon for your level on the fly, sure. Otherwise, only iconic weapons can be upgraded now, and that's only in rarity via leveling.

So level up as much as I can before dedicating crafting components to upgrade the weapon?

Iconic's are always gonna stay flat at what you put it at, guns like Psalm 11:6, Fenrir, Problem Solver, Moron Labe, Plan B or some iconic shotgun are a good choice to upgrade. If you want a gun that is locked behind a quest and your at the level that'd it wouldn't spawn as a legendary? Just wait, it would scale with you and be a legendary or if your lucky its one of the + variants.

The worst thing to do in my opinion is go for the guns you want early at level 15-20, these'll spawn as a blue or worse. Meaning that you would have to spend your hard earned upgrade components and Eddies to get it from level 3+ to level 4 then to level 4+.

Iconic weapons get special damage bonuses so they are good, but upgrading is very expensive in components - and those same components are used to upgrade cybereware - so having a lower level iconic and only upgrading when you have a pile of components is what I will do going forward.

Nope, you can do it at level 1 if you have the components.

Weapon upgrades no longer depend on your level and are independent of the tech attribute. Also, my bad on crafting a weapon to your level, as it shouldn't(?) matter. Weapons have a hard coded attack stat now, and upping the rarity will now just add bonus stats like bleeding, etc.

edit:
That I know of and after doing some tests.

But at that point you'd might as well wait. Because it ain't cheap to upgrade these things and its pretty worth it to just nab them at a later level.

They scale with you so you might as well go with the flow and pick em' up after you hit the level that you desire. It ain't worth the Eddies nor components right now with no "Scrapper" perk.

I'm level 25 and Psalm is still only available to craft as a level 1 so you have to upgrade them through all the stages with components. The physical weapons you can pick up like Fenrir on the other hand, it would be better to wait.

Understood, very helpful! Thanks choombas!

There are only a few Iconics I feel the need to use, so I'll get them relatively early and bear the cost. Lizzie, Buzzsaw, Moron Labe and Widowmaker will do most of what i need.
