How to get components?
Have they entirely been removed from shops? I've also noticed that enemies don't even always drop their guns too. Unless I'm missing something, you barely get any crafting material by playing the game.

Crafting is fun, but I don't think you should have to commit genocides to get materials at all? Perhaps they should be sold by merchants again? -_-

- Dismantle weapons and junk
- Craft uncommon to common and so on and so forth

Welcome to the grind is the best that I can say.

I find them in various containers, on enemies, junk lying around and naturally from dismantling everything I find.

Basically it gets much easier as you level but even me at level 20 I'm scrapping 15 rare guns worth $40k to do one level of upgrade to my iconic rifle. 5 components per rifle and 75 components per upgrade.

With a finite number of enemies there will be a bottle neck at some point. The same components are used for weapons and cyberware so you will always be short or juggling.

High end crafting materials do show up on shop vendors, rarely. However, they are ridiculously expensive. It is cheaper to buy a matching color weapon or clothing and then deconstruct it especially since you may get more than one component back. Also ridiculous.

I've never seen any on junk vendors or clothing vendors.

Otherwise, you either find them loose in the world, while looting enemies, deconstructed clothing, or deconstructing the weapons dropped by enemies.

Early game, I found the Tier 2 green components to be particularly hard to come by. Now that I don't need them, they're being used to make Tier 3 blues. Tier 3s have not been as nearly a problem.

I can't say I understand why they chose to go in this direction. You basically have to choose which iconic weapon you want to upgrade? Because from what I'm seeing, the amount of time required to upgrade many of them would simply be insane. And on top of that, you have all those cyberwares that need to be upgraded too.

This is pure insanity, and I guess I will have to mod the game.

Worth noting you don't *have* to upgrade cyberware. You can just buy better tiers when they become available if you're being limited by components rather than money.

Enemies still drop their guns; however, a large majority of them are in a "broken" state when you look at them. Picking them up auto-disassembles them into components. You'll still wind up with a good number of intact weapons to scrap. Haven't seen components in shops yet (started fresh for 2.0, so it's early days).
