[Solved] Bolt Shots don't work.
Bolt, tech weapons perk. That's what it says:

>Lv.3: Unlocks Bolt shots. To fire a Bolt, release the trigger for a charged shot right before it fully charges: counts as a fully charged shot, +30% damage, -50% penalty for penetrating cover.

I still don't understand how this works. I hold the button to charge and release it before the weapon fires a charged shot, and then nothing happens. I don't see any difference if it's a Bolt shot or if it's a normal shot. So I added Chain Lighting perk, just to be able to see lightnings, and now, well, It works 1 time out of 15-20 shots for me.

I mean, what the actually ****? Am I doing something wrong, is this some kinda random, despite the fact that there is no mention of this in the description? Why does this work so damn bad?

Here's my small test both with Lizzie and Widowmaker. I did miss the timing for two shots, just to show how it looks but otherwise I have no issue consistently activating Bolt.

If there's an issue that's more drastic than what is shown in this video then I recommend reporting it as a bug directly to Support. They could definitely improve the signals since they do seem a bit bugged, but the mechanic itself works fine for me.

Here's Comrade and Breakthrough;

The buff that stacks in the top left only activates if a Bolt is successfully fired off.

Yeah, still, as we can see, it works much better with Widowmaker and Breakthrough than with Comrade's Hammer. With a Sniper or Precision Rifle you can fire Bolt shot every time and very quickly, the time window for these guns is longer. Perhaps this is due to the fact that Hammer has explosive bullets by default that deal monstrous damage, and one effect somehow conflicts with the other.

No no, it's applying both effects. You can see the lightning within the explosion. Also there's even an Engineering passive which grants your Bolt shots a 40% chance to put enemies on fire at level 55, infact this test video was done with Engineering fully maxed out.

So with Comrade's you can now shoot literal tank shells doing Shock/Explosion/Fire damage with a single shot :D

Man, I'm only 37 Engineering lvl now... :militech:

But yeah, it's a damn hand tank now, and it's a shame you can't speed up its reload time.

Ive learned that the bolt for some reason isnt always applying. Quick save your game, exit to menu and load back in. The timing to fire the bolt is not that tight or complex, you are not doing anything wrong. Its just the game being goofy again.

It can be resolved by reapplying skills in tree. Works for me. But I think it's a bug.

This game always gives us new bugs.
