Pure hacker netrunner build is now impossible in 2.0?
As a fan of Neuromancer I played through Cyberpunk with the intent of making a pure hacker build. Being able to sit in a car outside a hostile territory and hack my way into everything, neutralizing everyone without any alarms going off.

Unfortunetely it seems that in the latest 2.0 update, all that work that went into getting the highest quickhacks and best cyberware as well as a lot of points into Intelligence is now not even close to being a viable build. The only quickhack that neutralizes an enemy is "system reset" (renamed now), but it now cost 28 ram so you just sit there and scroll stuff on your phone waiting for it to be available again.

And the other quickhacks, like "contagion", doesn't spread well and does almost no damage, which means that you can't take out enemies with it and instead all of them could be called "quickhack set off alarm" since all they do is alert the enemies.

I like that they've made synergy builds, but there should be a way to create a pure build that is powerful in one specific area.

I might be missing something, maybe someone could explain how to make this kind of hacker build in 2.0, but so far my character went from satisfyingly powerful to weak and useless in an instance.

Can't say with any certainty, but they did talk on the dev stream about obtaining a natural obscenely high RAM regeneration was still possible without having to engage in direct combat with the new perks that increase RAM recovery. I'm not sure if it's reliant on something from Phantom Liberty or doable in the base game with all the new cyberware combinations that's available.

Yeah pure netrunner builds just don't seem viable anymore.
Everything costs too much RAM, contagion is borderline useless and you're forced into melee to not have ♥♥♥♥ RAM recharge.
Combine that with the awful level scaling and removal of Cold Blood and my netrunner feels neutered.

It is now all about stacking hacks, upon stacking second or third hacks you gain back ram and recovery rate and such, your problem is you are playing vanilla hacking and only doing 1 which is not what the netrunner is about in 2.0.

Quickhack builds still work, adjust for the new set ups and you'll see it's actually a bit better now. I dig the new system and I didn't even really like this game much before 2.0

There's also a ton of upgrades at the ripperdoc to further supplement ram recharge and other perk functions.

Haven't tested it yet, but from going through the skill tree the build looks to be focused on queuing hacks and using the Overload(Overdrive?) ability to convert health to RAM and then recovering both health and RAM as you neutralise enemies with the hacks.

Seems like you have to be more strategic with your hacking instead of just spamming a single hack from one camera and watching it automatically spread to everyone in the building whilst also regenerating all of your RAM, which is precisely what I was doing when I played originally and got boring real quick.

I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Can't get Overdrive to work. Stuck fighting Sasquatch who instantly regenerates all lost health. Its really hard to stack quick hacks on her not that they do any real long term damage unless you destroy the purple gem in her back which hacking has no effect on.

Not at all, people just need to actually put some effort into a proper build now. With the lack of cyberware and poor skill tree before 2.0 it was easy to be OP, now you can still be OP you just need to think about. Now you have to think about your hacks instead of just spamming one button on a camera.

I guess the thinking part is where people are struggling.

Pure hack builds with new perk tree are balanced with the new DLC items in mind, so even if now they look like nerfed to death, they probably get much better once the dlc is released.

Hmm, after im installed ill test out my netrunner char see how it goes. char "was" jacked.

Netrunner has been nerfed to non existence. It is the weakest and most useless build right now.

My netrunner is deleting everybody instantly so far. Though she is level 25 and has epic level hacks, not sure what it's like to start new.

With overclock I've been able to delete whole rooms without even getting traced just with sonic shock queuing with short circuit. I take some health damage if there's more than like three enemies but if I'm not in combat it doesn't matter, plus I have perks to heal it back anyway.

And yeah queuing is where it's at. You get bonus effects and sometimes more damage depending on what you queue together.

I just wish you could activate overclock while hacking through cameras but that would probably be way too OP

While I wouldn't say impossible, there are some gripes I have with the new system. Mainly the ridiculous ram cost on some quickhacks (Memory wipe being over 30 depending on your range seriously!?) and Ram recovery rate being super slow out of combat (Give me an ability to at least trade health for faster ram recovery rate at least). Idk if the relic skill tree will fix some of the issues, but it honestly feels a bit too much in the nerf direction. The stacking combo is interesting and definitely a lot more fun, but that fun is reduced by the way too high raised ram cost and slow ram regen. This basically forces you to wait for overclock mode most of the time.

Sounds like wishful thinking.
