CPU temperature
Hi, so my average CPU temperature get's 89/90 while playing cyberpunk, I have AMD 5500, what kind of temperature do you get by playing it as I suppose this is too high for a PC and not a laptop any ideas how to fix it?

The highest my CPU gets is 67C.

3900XT with a 240mm AIO, I also have two more intake fans and three exhaust fans.

90C is pretty high to be honest.

Can you describe the rest of your system? Case, fans, CPU cooler etc.

If you're using the stock cooler which came with the 5500 then that's normal for that CPU.

https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-views-ryzen-5000-cpu-temperatures-up-to-95c-as-typical-and-by-design/

I have a 5600x which did the same with this game and the stock cooler. Popped on a better cooler and temps dropped.

Highest I've seen my 5700x hit in 2077 is 64, usually in the high 50's.
I expect that'll change with the update, but still not in any way to cause concern.

Max operating temp for that is 90. Past that you'll see thermal throttling (slower speeds). If you hit thermal shutdown temps your BIOS will cut power to protect your CPU. You likely have inadequate cooling.

TL;DR - you won't get best speeds at that temp, but it shouldn't shut down.

0bviously: get a better cooler.

But I think all Ryzen 5000s are made to run that hot for prolonged times. I get about 70°C (60-80) for my 5900X under load with a Noctua NH-D15s and a good airflow case with 6 fans.

If you don't wanna upgrade, at least check the airflow for obstructions, remove any dust and maybe check/renew the thermal paste.

Yes, all true. There's no reason for OP to have concern about system stability. But speeds start to degrade. 70 is a far cry from 90 so while both are stable the latter will start to throttle clock speeds.

If it's notebook CPU model you are okay even at 100C
If it's not then prepare fire extinguisher
This is to high temperature, mate. You should really check your termopaste condition and change it into something as good as MX 4. And maybe get some thoughts about change cooling system.

Depends on if you use PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive) if you have PBO enabled in BIOS, then that's a normal temperature if you used fan based cooling. IRRC all PBO does is remove the power limiter on the CPU and allows for the CPU to draw more power in and allows for the temps to hit up to 105 degrees in celsius before it throttles to avoid CPU damage.

If you do use PBO one thing you can do to help cut down on the temps some is to set the PBO profile to "Motherboard Auto" which is a profile predetermined by your motherboard manufacturer.

Other than that you can just disable PBO but you'll get way worse CPU performance. You could also MAYBE turn on PBO and set the motherboard profile to auto then undervult the cpu in ryzen master or through the motherboard and oc back to stock speeds, which in theory if you find the right voltage would allow for essentially the same performance but better temps. I never tried it with PBO turned on though so I'm not sure if that's even plausible.

Tbf if PBO is turned on, speeds at 90 are perfectly fine. If it's turned off...

OP seriously needs to change their thermal paste and maybe invest in a better cpu cooler.

Not always down to a inadequate cooler. It could be a multitude of common things:
* Bad mounting pressure
* Dust buildup on CPU fan/heatsink or on the case intake.
* Dead pump if OP has an AIO
* Overclock settings
* Bad thermal paste or it being applied incorrectly
* Dead fans
* Wrong fan orientation in case
* Wrong fan curve for the CPU

If they're using PBO they should also have a negative bias curve optimized voltage set.
And custom fan curves.

200+ Mhz PBO OC, curve optimized, with custom fan curve (using a Fuma 2 with upgraded fans) and I'm yet to hit above 76 on my CPU in anything (games, synthetic benchmarks, crunching a 4k video through Hitfilm...)

That is really hot for a 5500 guessing Wraith stealth stock cooler?

The AMD stock cooler for the higher end CPU's the Wraith prism is okish but the stealth is kinda bad, if you can afford £20-30 then a new cooler, Wont be amazing for that price but should be a lot better than the stock cooler.

Obviously coolers get better with the higher price brackets a lot of really good coolers in the £40-60 then at the £80+ range but they start getting a lot bigger so need to make sure your case has enough room to fit them. Or if you have enough room in your case a 240-280mm AIO.

Other things you can try, cleaning your cooler quite a few different ways of doing it i recommend can of compressed air can get them cheap on Amazon or Ebay, make sure your PC is switched off/ unplugged at the wall and short blasts only you will be shocked how much dust builds up inside your PC.

Can also try reapplying the thermal paste I recommend Artic MX range or Thermal Grizzly

My CPU temperatures dropped from high 90C to mid 70C while playing after I simply opened up my PC case...it was totally an airflow problem.

i9-13900KF cpu.

Thanks for the responses, I've read them all, I just changed the thermal paste now, will see how it goes, but I think it's because the stock AMD cooler, when I was buying cpu I was told that the stock cooler will do his job pretty good and I won't have to worry for any issues, but as I see it might be the opposite haha, so I will consider changing that in case thermal paste does not work, thanks all
