hmm do i start over or continue save file
, hear me out,

i know there is ALOT of new stuff coming in 2.0 , mostly visuals/gameplay improvments, skill rewamps etc. but :

i played the game multiple times before, i got to roughly 50% of the main story, and then suddenly for no reason i stopped, happened like 3-4 times , should i continue my MAIN story save from there and just play the game, or really start over? i dont believe the main story will have a lot of new stuff to see other than combat being abit better, but the story beats and the quests them self is the same right? seeing them for a 5th time may drag out, but if its actually worth starting over completly ill be down for it

Continue on your save.

Would say it depends on your tolerance for jank (as it can be a bit jankier to continue on with an old save after a big update) and whether you're alright skipping the new systems being gradually introduced and tutorialised. Biggest thing to CDPR's message, I suspect, is that they just want to avoid the now traditional complaints from people who still haven't learnt that big updates break mods and modded games.

The story isn't changing, no, although there are some very minor additions which we know about (eg the new radio station responding to events).

It depends:
1. "I just want phantom liberty, Patch 2.0 is just an inconvenient prerequisite" - just pay your 70 and play DLC.

2. "I've finished the full run 10x already. I don't want to play anymore - I'm just a slave to completionist OCD" - just pay your 70 and play DLC.

3. "I want to experience the game CDPR promised originally, and the way the books described instead of substituted, lastminute "generic mechanics"" - start new.

Cybernetics is reworked from ground up - the way it's originally meant to in the books.
- Kevlar cargo pants is silly.
- 5% skill buff on perk is stilly.

Police, vehicular combat is reworked.
- experience it from the ground up.

SideQuests is throttled/gated and measured.
- experince progression rather than speedrun.

The devs said one should start a fresh save if you want to experience the 2.0 update

Personally i'm going to be starting over, to me it seems they're rolling out 2.0 early so we can 'finish' again before phantom liberty comes out, which is my plan of action.

I should maybe point out that i've finished the game multiple times now and absolutely love the game/story, so there is that bias to consider when i say start over i guess. I'd happily replay the story over and over on a monthly basis tbh.

From OP.
"i played the game multiple times before, i got to roughly 50% of the main story, and then suddenly for no reason i stopped, happened like 3-4 times"
In he's case i say, continue your save.

CDPR recommended a fresh start.

you'll want to start a new game as much of the additions you'll miss a lot if you continue from a save.

I started fresh game, ran through tutorial, first mission saved. Now wait for patch. Think that is your best option no mods.

Every big update I start over. But that’s just me.

Won't this still be on the old version? I'd of thought you'd have to start again after the update is out

Start over, with all these changes its pretty "dumb" to not start over... its like a reboot... I think you miss alot of cool progress and fun when just using a old file
