To add to it, Panam does extend her hand to help V with his condition, whether it be helping V to find people to help with his condition or gladly helping to attack Arisaka with you.
Panam on the other hand asks how you are and how she could help.
Another thing - why the hell do people care about Evelyn? We meet her once, talk for 3 minutes and then she dissapears, we see her in a bad state, and then shes dead. Some players are hell bent on getting justice for Evelyn. Dude, you dont know her, or care about her. She certainly didnt know or care about you. Neither does Judy, going by her actions. ♥♥♥♥ the both of them. I was so unmotivated to help either...
edit:
And also no. You don't really get companions in this game, unless you use a mod. They are simply story companions, who are entirely dependent on the story to be relevant to V; once their story ends, so does the ability for them to tag along.
I truly felt like I was giving them a helping hand of support rather than the other way around.
I think they went that way with several of the characters, instead of making a likable fictional character they make "realistic" people with attitudes and motivations and hot takes and the end result is no one likes them and they are often off-putting.
