I know Jack Black has had roles before back in the day as villians when he pretty much started acting.... and when he plays his roles he can be quite passionate with them.... I could totally see him pulling off the whole evil thing when first meeting after prologue.... he's got the whole spectrum of emotions he works with....
keanu reeves though?.... he's pretty much always a nice guy... and movies he plays are always kinda just one side of him.... the good side... he doesnt even sing in this game himself... even though he's in a "band" and thats one of his biggest background details...
I mean think they just picked Keanu for the "sex appeal" aspect..... but someone like Jack Black would check off way more boxes of Jonny's character I think.... he just has more of his "personality" I think... not to mention the singing background.... I mean look at how he did Bowser with his peach song becoming a hit.... like dude wrote and sung a song about "Peaches" and it hit the billboard charts....
As long as they do a good job voice acting, I don't see an issue. I don't get this "no actors in my game" attitude a lot of people seem to have. There are a lot of cases where actors did great job voicing their characters (Mass effect series had many celebrities and is one of the absolute best rpgs out there, Reedus in Death Stranding, Matthew Perry in F:NV, GTA series had quite a few over the series, Saints Row had a few, pretty sure Assassin creed games had few etc... That's just for real actors, if you want to count other celebs like Jesse cox (youtubers and such), then list is even bigger. Thing is, most people don't even realize some of the characters they love are voiced by celebrities, but once they find out, it's suddenly a deal breaker?
Wasn't Bowie the one of the inspirations for Silverhand?
No issue with Keanu though. We'll see if in the sequel/s they'll keep up this "must have a celebrity voicing a major character" thing they got going on here.
Witcher 3 had no known actors that I can think of and the English version had an incredibly strong voice cast. Keep film actors on the silver screen.
It would have been nice to see a Heath Ledger (joker type performance) for Silverhand with AI i guess we could have both Bowie or Heath perform it.
Considering Keanu excels in robotic characters he fits Silverhand well. 11/10 times they should pick Keanu to do it all over again.
