I like the old crafting system better
I can't find crafting components to do upgrades, they seem like rare drops now. I admit there were an excess of them before but now its at the other extreme.

Sadly the only way to get them now (reliably) is dismantling the stuff you loot, and they are very stingy on top of that. I had to get a mod called softcrafting to get a decent amount of materials, as well as weapons/cyberware not requiring two billion of something to upgrade.

They should just let us buy the materials ourselves.

I want to play through without any mods, well except a clothing mod as remove it on some/few NPCs little eye candy is always welcome

So did I until the devs decided to be stingy with crafting materials.

The old crafting system basically took an entire skill tree, leaving only two that are helpful. Now, crafting components are all over the place. You just gotta recycle all the weapons and clothing items you're not going to use. It does require a whole lot of crafting mats when You're doing legendary upgrades though.

Just dismatle weapons and clothes that drop.
It's way better than the old system and you get lot more money now too.
You dismatle purple and orange stuff, sell the rest.

ok

It's definitely a bizarre change to take the components out of vendor stock when we're entirely more reliant on them in 2.0x than we were before. It flies in the face of the excuse they gave for implementing level scaling so people didn't feel like they had to grind.

Are you talking about crafting mats for weps or quick hacks? Because the easiest way for quick hack mats is to hack the terminals you see while on mission. Im talking about the terms where you have to where you jack in and click on the numbers. The more advance hacks will get you a ton of free mats and blueprints for hacks. I'm lvl 46 and swiming in quick hack mats.

I dont mind the new system.... even when they removed the whole cheap pistols being worth 5 basic components....

I can still manage to get a tier 3 cyberdeck before level 10.... lol....

but it makes it so much more of a commitment I think the way it is now.... I mean im not swimming in crafting components exactly but it makes deciding to upgrade or wait more of a option than to just steamroll with the crafting system...

right now its more like a smaller currency.... like when you get a weapon you decide whether its more valuable for cash or components.... vendors like ripperdocs may sell what you want later on and it'd be cheaper to buy them then than mass dismantling... but if you invest into them as components you can upgrade what you want much earlier....

like a tier 3 cyberdeck for instance you wont see till level 20 being sold at ripperdocs.... but if you focus only on dismantling early and farm a bit you can upgrade your cyberdeck from tier 1 to tier 3 way earlier than you will normally get it... which a tier 3 cyberdeck means tier 3 sonic shock making full stealth netrunner with no tracing....

a little yes, but the old system armor mods were overpowered, could become unscratchable.

I really don't like that they removed the upgrading of non iconic weapons!
