Light talk. For Cyberpunk 2 : Still Night City or elsewhere ?
Just for the fun of it, where would you like to be in a future iteration of Cyberpunk.
- Someplace completely new ? Maybe multiple places separated by huge no-man's lands, filled with dangers, where you can ride your favourite vehicule on the ground or in the air ?
- Another huge city ?
- Or maybe still in Night City but with more stuff opened, More interractions with NPC's, More possible career (climbing a corpo hierarchy, or growing your own little business and fighting the competition ?). Characters from previous opus returning, older, or maybe their descendents or what's left of their crew, Maybe with a different political/social setting. For example: a future (of the actual game), where IA robots are everywhere, taking jobs and power, even in the Corpos. Delamain (whatever version of it :) ) is leading a Resistance, because he believes that robots should serve humain and not the other way around.

What do you like to imagine ?

I'd like to see a new city set somewhere in Europe for a change but it's hard to do due to the many different languages and accents which is why most games opt for American cities. It's a big ask to base something in France and have american accents plus most US and UK/English speaking countries couldn't stand to listen to french accents for the entirity of a game, same with other countries like Portugal, Spain, Germany, etc. We've all become acclimated to the US accent which makes it easier to have places set in the states with an infusion of different - but not central - accents spread out sporadically.

If anything I'd like to see different hubs. I'd even like to see them keep Night City mostly as it is but branch out with new cities the story brings you do like different acts lead to Japan, mainland Europe and even China or Russia where you'd spend a couple dozen hours there. I'd say that's much more likely and obtainable, just give Night City a fresh lick of paint.

Also, oddly enough, I'm pretty sure in the early days of development Night City was supposed to be the last surviving city after the unification wars and where the New USA Goverment was setup; everything outside of NC was supposed to be a wasteland. Maybe someone can correct me here but I'm talking about way back when from years before we knew much of anything about the game.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't Night City. It's a major melting pot in the setting for a little bit of everything and everyone.

There has been so much work into the design of this city. I believe it would be a waste to not iterate on it. It's the only game where I never skip traveling. It's just a pleasure to drive in this setting (despite the cars driving like soap). I would love to return to a next gen version of it.

I want to see them keep night city as the main area in CP2. I would love for them to add different hub cities though. Neo Tokyo, Osaka, Atlanta, Seoul. They could even just add them as starting areas for flavor to add more to the world, where you enviably still end up in night city.

I hope they use Night City as the main hub and start evolving the game towards a real cyberpunk rpg (where one can pick the various classes from the tabletop like they first intended it) and introduce team gigs as a major gameplay loop. Long operations then can take place either in Night City or in other places (including space...). I doubt they can create a new megacity and I'd favour the aforementioned depth / changes in gameplay before having the devs concentrating on yet another big location.

Heck, give us a real party of variing sizes and e.g. give us the possiblity to ride as a small team on one bike / using the vehicles as part of the planning to get to the missions / introduce the team driving vehicles (as a choice of the player - either drive or be driven).

tl;dr Night City has still a lot to offer - but I wouldn't mind a peak into space. :steamhappy: I'd prefer less story driven missions and more freedom / gameplay closer to the tabletop and more depth to the various mechanics (ops with a team, real companions like Jacky, vehicles for the team and npc piloting them etc..)
