Gold loot disappearing when picking it up?

So I decided to do another playthrough after the recent updates, but every time I loot legendary grade items, it doesn't appear in my inventory. is this a bug or a feature?

Brand new save file, no mods.

that's what i thought too, but its not appearing in my crafting screen either.

Below about level 35 you will not be picking up actual legendary items. Gold means iconic, or as noted above, bluprints.

Edit.

The organised crime bosses from the NCPD hustles will have a gold item on them but it is an iconic blue print for your level.

Below about level 35 you will not be picking up actual legendary items. Gold means iconic, or as noted above, bluprints.

regardless of the label, it's not appearing as an item, nor a blue print, it's just gone.

Check thru each crafting tier, I know when I got comrades pistol, it was I. The blue tier. At the time easily missed for me.

sometimes iconic weapon appear orange when you go to pick it up but downgrade in your inventory.

Like weapons? Weapons you pick up off bodies can be "Broken" and automatically turn into crafting materials.
