Do I really need this game on my SSD?
Does it really make that much of a difference? I know loading screens are faster but overall is it really a huge improvement? I know more SSD space is better for overall performance for the entirety of a PC, until a certain percentage

I'm asking because I would like to conserve as much SSD space as possible, but if it fixes the issues I have with the game already I will go through with it

Yes, "reading" the cars, lights, environments, entering interiors, opening doors, taking a shower, reading the "assets", less effort and so on. But you can play on a normal HDD, calmly.

It does make a lot of difference.

Yes.

SSDs are not just for loading times, but also for active asset streaming throughout regular gameplay. The faster it can pull those assets and load them, the smoother the performance is.

In Cyberpunk's case it also massively reduces the chances of gaining some weird bugs due to slow asset streaming.

You should be on SSD these days. 2TB are like less than $100 these days.

You don't "need" it, the game specifically has a setting for HDDs. But it does help a lot yes.

My man, its 2023. You can get a name-brand good performing 500GB SSD for a couple of bucks more than a big mac and a 2TB for $60. Its time to move on.

i played on a HDD for a good 40hours fine tho with HDD auto mode on.
however grand has right, it can end up that no peoples or cars etc. load in and the game seems totally empty wich is, when you drive to somewhere kind of nice tho. not nice is when a car suddenly pops up in front of you. while i was on HDD happened that only once to me.

you will get aswell have a major freeze for up to 2 seconds whenever you get close to dogtown and you might have in general some loading issues like streets appear a bit later etc.

for me happened always only the freeze whenever i reached dogtown. if your HDD has 7200rpm (aka one of the better ones) will it work more or less good. just try it. if it doesnt works well, just move the game over to your SSD via steam settings.

"Need" is a strong word, but I think it fits here. A lot of graphics glitches I had were fixed by switching the game to my SSD, I can tell you that much.

But if it's a good HDD it's not bad, but the ideal is an SSD, they're cheap now (I recommend Samsung: P), or an external SSD, but then the important thing is reading it.

I would highly recommend anyone wanting to play modern games to install a ssd as it is pretty much the cheapest bottleneck you can remove from your system.

Here you can watch someone who asked himself the same question as you did, and answered it as well. ;)

I switched to SSD, I don't have the loading problems but my fps running through dtown seems noticeably worse, hard to engage combat in certain areas

Ok if I'm having these issues running a game on an $800 PC then i'm not the one at fault

I have a computer that cost over 1500 at the time and games from 2015 still crash on me lol

I know that comparison lacks a bit but still using HDDs nowadays is like still using floppy disks.
