Tygers Claw Dermal Smart Link Tattoo actually do anything when upgraded?
So playing the 2.1 Phantom Liberty version, and it lets me upgrade the Tyger Claw tattoo implant for smart link on guns. But it doesn't actually show any stat improvements. Heck it doesn't even show any bonuses on the base version. Is it just better to buy one of the actual smart link implants, that come with nice perks like +Max Ram or improvements to lockon time? Stuff that theoretically will improve in stats as you upgrade?

the advantage of the tyger claw one is that it doesnt take up any cyberware capacity. Otherwise, its strictly worse, but if your not running a deck and you're going sandy/berserk those cyberware points might be better used elsewhere, yet still let you rock smartguns.

I'm playing a netrunner build and just finished the gig to get it installed. So upgrading it does nothing but waste materials? I mean I looked really carefully at that stat sheet and there was zero change. So no hidden stat bonuses or anything that would actually benefit? Just pure resource sink?

Are you being serious that it actually changes the tattoo or just being a smartass?

It used to prevent you from being locked by enemy smart guns but that benefit has now been removed by the 2.0 patch. The only point to use it now is that it doesn't use up cyberware capacity points.

You do get the color change for the item rarity, probably.

But other than that, no, I don't think upgrading it actually makes it better in any way. It's just there for a 0 cyberware capacity smart weapon enabler.

Just found this then tested. From Tier 3 it gives added benefits, so gotta spend through Tier 2 first.
Namely at Tier 3 for me it now has added:
+10% lock-on speed
20% smaller Smart-targeting reticle
Intelligence Attuned

The tattoo gives you bonus stats for no capacity, so unless you need both hand slots for your build, why not?
