As I said, it's clear they changed the main game that we know and loved for 3 years to adapt to an expansion 3 years later versus doing it right and adapting the expansion TO THE MAIN GAME.
but what happens when STEAM tries to auto update it, will it remain this beta version. When I'm looking at this game I do not seem to have any options to not update it.
My options are ... just how and when it updates, not to stop them all together?
Set the game to update on launch, and rather than launch through steam, just launch the exe directly.
Thanks,
cool beanz ... I'm a 62 year old SIMULATIONS player, and I'll take all the help I can get.
Not only can you go back (and forth) if you wish.... You can have both versions.
I have a small SSD dedicated to just cyberpunk (the game itself)
Currently it has folders for each version of the game I keep.
1.61 modded
1.63 legacy vanilla
2.02 modded backup.
I have shortcuts to each .exe on my desktop, so I can start any of these versions from there.
No need to worry about steam patching them, since steam didn't install them there.
You can just copy the whole cyberpunk 2077 folder over.
The only issue is save games.
Saves are not saved to the game folder, but to one in your main drive (C:)
And copies of a save, even inside another folder inside the save game folder, show up inside the game.
So to fix that, I go up 1 folder and save them there, inside named folders for each V
(That way, I can copy out and in different versions of my saves, as 1.61 is compatible with 2.02 but buggy...but 2.02 is not compatible at all backwards)
You can go back to 2.0+ any time by opting out of the 1.63 legacy beta, but saves will likely be bugged in 2.0+ (so it's recommended to start over)
Unfortunately 1.63 is not compatible at all with the expansion.
Phantom Liberty was created around 2.0 exclusively, and requires it's mechanics to function.
The updated perk system and reworked attributes system are integral to its workings, and can't be separated out so easily.
(Tho some crazy arse motherf*cker of an insane mod maker might be able to manually build the whole thing as some insane modded dlc, like the folks who rebuilt Morrowind in Oblivion or Skyrim lol. They would probably have to do it all by hand tho, and it would likely require mods that no longer are updated or supported for that version, and *that* would likely need the original makers permissions to include or host, their older originals. A mammoth task to be sure. But there is always *someone* willing to go 'hold my NiCola' and give it a punt)
