Why does the Edgerunner quest make you watch a braindance in the form of Anime?

I am probably gonna catch some flak for this, but I found it pretty immersion breaking. Braindance is supposed to be someones memory, so why the hell does it play anime... I know its just one quest, but still. Kinda feels slapped together in an effort to promote the anime rather than keep consistent with the game.

At least would have been nice to have a reason for why its anime to not be so out of place and immersion breaking.

A lot of questionable and gimmicky things were added to the game for 2.0.. such as the new skill system and level-scaling. Sorry.

Because that's the actual scene from the anime, which largely kicks off the plot.

They could have remade it to look like the game, but that's more work but would have been nice. Since they both share the same continuity, you could reason it as V sees the real memory like in any normal BD but we see the anime because less effort I guess.

TBH even if they didnt wanna remake it in engine, they could have at least had a reason for why its anime. Like maybe V catches the anime on a TV in a diner, it piques his interest and then he calls whats his face, El Chapo lol Seems really phoned in.

That wasn't added for 2.0 it was added at the same time as the anime release, I think that was 1.5. It was a cross promotion and infact is pretty close to the same BD as was in the anime to start it. Might not have been the best but lumping it in with the 2.0 changes is a bit of a stretch.

well . the bd was made in 2076 . id just imagine braindances didn't have realistic graphics at that time . thats why it ended in the dumpster . old crappy tech

You’re only seeing it in anime as the player. Presumably V would be seeing it in live action.

That isnt even the only time V pops in a sketchy BD, there is a quest in the base game where he does the same thing.
