can you go back to the garage from the first mission of PL?

[Dweller Beyond the Threshold]

Towards the end of the garage, shortly before you emerge into the stadium, there was this door that required 10 strength to open which I lacked. Plus there's a gate with some loots behind I couldn't get through (no door on this side).

I can now freeroam in dogtown but I see no ways of going back there. Anyone know how, if it's possible at all?
