If you engage a suspect in real life when the police are already on the scene, you would also be arrested for obstruction of justice. If you engaged that subject with lethal force, the police would also level force against you. If anything it's more realistic now. I actually prefer it this way. Plus with how corrupt Night City Police are, you are best to ALWAYS mind your own business and avoid getting involved with them in any way shape or form. This is a dumb complaint considering the latest patch broke so many other aspects of the game.

I don't understand how some think the cop mechanic is bugged or broken.

Imo its not broken/bugged

Just because it's working for you doesn't mean it's not broken for others. There are multiple posts in this thread that offer the same anecdotal evidence you're offering with completely opposite outcomes.

Your experience is not the rule. Your game can work while others can be bugged. They're not mutually exclusive.

It's not bugged read what I quoted. This is 100% the issue here

If cops are aggroing u thats a u issue.

I had issues at the start of 2.0. Once I learned what was triggering them. It doesn't happen anymore.

totally agree it's very annoying now. When it was totally fine before the big patch.

The only dumb thing is people saying it isn't a problem. NCPD gives you missions, you cannot complete the missions without them aggroing on you. Simple, to the point. The mechanic is broken. I've literally gone AFK standing on the sidewalk to get a drink and came back to 20 cops shooting at me, just for existing in that particular place.

cant complete NCPD missions without them agroing you. this is not true at all. i have done several of them. never once did they target me.

your doing something thats causing this. plenty of players have tried pointing this out. you need to learn the new ways in 2.0 to not get them to aggro you. alot of what i see players talking about isnt an issue with the mechanic. its unlearing how the cops mechanic worked pre-2.0.

you clearly did something to get the cops to target you. theres been plenty of times i have gone to the bathroom or hell even made food. ZERO cops ever aggroed me.

i had issues once i started playing 2.0. it wasnt tell i learned what triggers thier aggro now. did it not happen so much. you just need to watch where your shooting.

the way it is now IMO is more realistic that it was pre-2.0 and thats a good thing.

I don't know but maybe it was the straw that broke the camels back? Just a thought.

You clearly didn't get the memo that there are 100s of bugs in the latest patch and maybe, just maybe, something else is wrong. Oh no, not you, Mr. Perfect. Please explain again how everyone else is just a dumba$$.

The cops don't attack you if you only attack the ppl they're fighting

You're probably accidentally hitting the police

I have tested the heck out of this and what your saying is untrue, at least in my game it is.

Before the update the cops were a joke but now they are a darn hinderance. I preferred them as a joke.

Don't the cops given most wanted missions and other missions to kill people?

Kind of weird to suddenly care ain't it?

Cops will aggro just from looking at them. Try it. Just stand there with your crosshair on them and they will go aggro.

I help them all the time and they never attack me a few have even said thanks for the help.

i wouldnt have opened this diskussion if i havent tested it
i wouldnt have left it open if any tip (holster weapon ...dont shot civ or ncpd ect) would have solved it

it is bugged and that this happens for some ppl and not for others shows that is damn well a bug
be happy if it doesnt effect your current playthrough but i bet you start a new one and the chance is high it happens to you aswell

in detail again
i come across the event ,
walk up to 1 of 5 crims and kill him
no civs no ncpd hurt by me ..no electric explody bs just a clean simple headshot or quickhack
holster my weapon and watch the ncpd deal with the rest (even with distance to the event)
1-3 sec after the last guy dies i become wanted and shot at

and this is not supposed to happen so please and with all respect
curb your irl bs arguments
i could deal with the irl aproach if it could be prevented by holster or not harm "good" guys
but

those events are ment for the player to interact with !!!!
so your argumentation makes no sense at all

Police will attack you on NCPD missions if you either attack them, or (and that is more likely if not paying attention) if they see you hurting innocents while you're fighting the deliquents. A simple grenade tossed at the wrong place at the wrong time can be way more trouble than its worth if there are witnesses arround.

Other than me accidentally hurting bystanders the only police intervention I've seen is them actually trying to help me in the fight.
Detective Costeau Oct 12, 2023 @ 7:45am
It's possible there's a bug here, but my experience is this has only happened if I'm using either automatic weapons or explosives. Which means it's probably down to accidentally hitting a police officer or innocent. I suspect (but can't prove) a lot of times what's happening is a power weapon ricochet hits someone you don't mean to and that sets the police off.
