But you could always make a save and call it start here for exp or something.. then go back to it that way.
After you beat the game, you will be sent back before the "point of no return" in order to keep playing - or play it again to see a different ending, and i believe - though i haven't started PL yet - that you'll be able to start PL at that point.
Edit: so people above are saying differently. Again i haven't started PL yet, so maybe i'm missing a context regarding the expansion that would explain why you wouldn't be able to start the expansion after beating the main game, because again at least prior to patch 2.0, once you finish the main story, the game will send you to a savegame from before the point of no return, and by that logic unless i'm missing something regarding the expansion, you should be able to start it at that point.
But, maybe i'm wrong. So in that case, make plenty of manual saves.
I believe the game tells you when the point of no return is reached, but it's basically when you have the mission called "Nocturne Op55N1" (it will tell you to Meet Hanako at Embers ) - you can have all other gigs, main missions and side quests completed at this point, just don't proceed with Nocturne Op55N1.
Not sure about this, he is just starting the game for the first time on 2.0, how would he be missing anything when he gets Phantom Liberty in a few months as he said?
Woops! I missed that part, I gave the advise I did because I tried to play the game from a save prior to 2.0, and I was missing a lot of the things I would have had playing 2.0 from the beginning.
Nonesense the early levels go fast. By time I got to my apartment after saving Sandra I had gained 2 levels already. Early levels go fast.
He would be missing out on the new relic powers that he can use in completing the base game. You unlock new powers and new gigs, such as the car thieft ones. in the DLC.
Also dog town is a good source of skill shards from the air drops, which also will help in the main game.
There are a lot of benefits for doing the DLC when you get to it in the main story.
