Will I have to start over later for Phantom Liberty?
So I took interest in Cyberpunk after the 2.0 update was announced but I could only afford the base game. I know Phantom Liberty unlocks at some point in the main story, but I also heard that it functions as a sort of "alternate ending" to it as well (so completing it is like finishing the game). My question is: If I just beat the game now, once I do get Phantom Liberty in a few months, will I have to start over? I don't know if you can keep playing after the story ends or if progressing too much into it will lock me out of PL in the future. And if so, when is a "point of no return" that I should make a separate manual save?

Please keep in mind this is my first time playing and I'm not too far into the story, so avoid spoilers.

(and I know I could've just waited until I could get Phantom Liberty and play the full package, but since its an alternate ending, I wanted to experience the normal endings on my own first)

No you will not be able to do it once you finish the game..

But you could always make a save and call it start here for exp or something.. then go back to it that way.

manual save would be best imo. It's pretty clear when you're making progress with your main quests, so you can have a few manual saves and simply load one up before it locks you into an ending sequence.

You will not have to start over.

After you beat the game, you will be sent back before the "point of no return" in order to keep playing - or play it again to see a different ending, and i believe - though i haven't started PL yet - that you'll be able to start PL at that point.

Edit: so people above are saying differently. Again i haven't started PL yet, so maybe i'm missing a context regarding the expansion that would explain why you wouldn't be able to start the expansion after beating the main game, because again at least prior to patch 2.0, once you finish the main story, the game will send you to a savegame from before the point of no return, and by that logic unless i'm missing something regarding the expansion, you should be able to start it at that point.

But, maybe i'm wrong. So in that case, make plenty of manual saves.

You don't have to start over for Phantom Liberty. I played through the base game multiple times since release, when 2.0 game out I did start over just to get acquainted with the new features, but I ultimately loaded up a save game from my second play-through before heading into Phantom Liberty's content.

I believe the game tells you when the point of no return is reached, but it's basically when you have the mission called "Nocturne Op55N1" (it will tell you to Meet Hanako at Embers ) - you can have all other gigs, main missions and side quests completed at this point, just don't proceed with Nocturne Op55N1.

No, but I recommend it, you will be missing a lot of cybernetic capacity and skill experience.

Not sure about this, he is just starting the game for the first time on 2.0, how would he be missing anything when he gets Phantom Liberty in a few months as he said?

If you are starting a game on 2.0 you should be fine to play PL later. Like someone already said, you can go past the "point of no return" and beat the game, but after you get your ending the game will send you back to let you keep playing. You should also keep multiple save files going anyways, and keep a save file before the point of no return anyways just in case.

Thanks guys, I'll just keep playing normally then.

Woops! I missed that part, I gave the advise I did because I tried to play the game from a save prior to 2.0, and I was missing a lot of the things I would have had playing 2.0 from the beginning.

If you are past level 10, I do not recommend starting over. '2.0' 1-9 leveling is an uphill slog through molasses in winter without shoes. Or clothes. While being shot at.

Really? I feel like I'm getting a level up all the time.

Nonesense the early levels go fast. By time I got to my apartment after saving Sandra I had gained 2 levels already. Early levels go fast.

He would be missing out on the new relic powers that he can use in completing the base game. You unlock new powers and new gigs, such as the car thieft ones. in the DLC.

Also dog town is a good source of skill shards from the air drops, which also will help in the main game.

There are a lot of benefits for doing the DLC when you get to it in the main story.

Yeah, but if I finish the main story and then continue playing from the same save file (which apparently will put me right before the final main quest), wouldn't I be able to just start Phantom Liberty then?
